Playing a YouTube video crashes Microsoft Edge

I've been using Edge for over a year now and it's my favourite browser. But I've been noticing a very serious problem for a few weeks. Whenever I play a YouTube video, my browser hangs in between the video, and then I have to either kill it from the task manager or close it by clicking 'X' which sends the crash report.

I usually use the Dev build of Edge and I tried playing videos in Canary and Stable and both had the same issue. But the videos work perfectly fine on every other browser I have (Brave, Chrome, Firefox, Iron). None of them does that while playing the video.

Please help me resolve this issue. And maybe very few people might be facing this very problem.

Are you able to send feedback using ... -> Help and feedback -> Send feedback when in this situation? If yes, can you please send feedback, include the text "Playing a YouTube video crashes Microsoft Edge" and respond here when done?

    Thanks

    Arvind

    Hello Max,

Thank you for updating me with that information. I apologize that this did not resolve the issue.

Please try the additional methods below.

**Please try performing a Clean Boot of Windows

Determine whether a background program or a software conflict is causing the issue.

Go to the search box > type MSConfig.

Select System Configuration > go to the Services tab.

Select and put a check mark on "Hide all Microsoft services" > Click Disable all.

Go to Startup tab > Open Task Manager > Disable all the unnecessary services running there. Restart your computer.

Kindly check the support article below for more details

**Please try creating a new local administrator account then check if the issue still persists.

Kindly let me know if this helps or if you have any further concerns.

    Kind regards,

Thanks for your answers, John and Arvind. I am still facing this issue but I'll let you know after the clean boot of Windows. I sent the feedback before I think but I'll do that again.

Also, I had a question, if I clean boot Windows, won't I lose my activated Windows?

Finally, I can reply. I wasn't able to reply because this textbox didn't come up.

I uninstalled and installed Edge Dev again and repaired the Stable Edge. But it happened again and also, there is a spike in RAM usage whenever Edge freezes.
