Internet Explorer Compatibility settings are missing in Window 10 for Edge

Have system where trying to set Internet Explorer Compatibility mode but it is missing in Edge.

Windows Version: Windows 10 Pro Ver 1607 (Windows update says no updates and that machine is up to date)

Things that have tried:

  • Uninstall and reinstall fresh Edge
  • Clear all Edge cache and reset settings to default before doing reboot of machine
  • Repair Edge
  • Remove Edge as default browser, set Chrome to default, reboot machine and then go in to make Edge default and still no change.

Version of Edge is latest from what I can tell

But this is all I see when going to the "Default Browser" settings. There is no section for "Internet Explorer Compatibility" that I can get to show up like on other machines I have used.

Any help would be appreciated.

I tried this tool and received an error message stating that this will does not work with the my Windows 10 version.

I am also running the 101.0.1012.32 version.

Is there a specific version of Edge that I can download and install that has the IE compatibility settings within the Settings> Default Browser window?

Hi, I'm Robinson, and I’m happy to help you today.

I know how frustrating this may be for you but I'll do my very best to help you.

Windows 10, version 1607 reached the end of support on April 10, 2018. This means that Windows 10, version 1607 do not receive more update after that date and this should be the cause of the missing features.

Updating Windows to the latest version 21H2 should fix this problem. Older versions can not be updated with the Window Update you will need to use the Media Creation Tool to do that.

    1-Download the media creation tool.

2-Run the tool and select 'Upgrade this pc now'

3-Select the option 'Keep all my files and apps'

    4-Then click to update.

    Alex,

I was originally at version 101.0.1012.32 when I posted my problem. I have since then installed the EdgeWebViewRuntime and applied updates. Now I am at version 101.0.102.39. I am still not seeing all of the Internet Explorer compatibility options.

I am looking for a solution that will allow me to setup Edge to run in IE mode. Can I get those options enabled on this version or do I have to uninstall this version and install a specific version?

Here is from another machine that is set up with the same version of Edge as the machine I am having the issue with

As you can see it has the settings for Compatibility with that version of Edge

Actually have had other people sign on to the machine with the issue and they see the settings in edge for Compatibility. So I am suspecting that it is something tied to that one profile but have not figured out how to get it to reset back to like the other profiles now being done on that machine. Even uninstalling complete of edge and reinstall is not solving the problem.

I am not sure that I want to delete the profile or not as that may cause other issues.
