Amazon "Look inside" suddenly not working reliably

Running up-to-date Windows 10 on Dell desktop, up-to-date Microsoft Edge. This morning, the "Look inside" feature at amazon.com started acting weird. This is the feature that lets you preview a book. Some books work fine. Others, when you click on "Look inside", the scroll bar goes away, and the page becomes useless (no page up/down, no clickable links, etc.) Have to refresh the page to get scrolling, links, etc. back again.

Is there a chance that a recent Edge update has somehow scrambled things?

Have cleared Edge cache, cookies and site data, but "Look inside" still doesn't work reliably. Restarting Windows doesn't help.

Edge version 106.0.1370.47

Windows 10 version 21H2, build 19044.2130

Today I tried the troublesome Amazon pages again (after clearing Edge cache).

They worked great! Not only does the "Look inside" feature work, but all the weird flashing/re-drawing when the original Web page is brought up has gone away. Now it's all smooth sailing (the way it was before this past weekend).

Strangely, Google Chrome (cache cleared) on my computer is still exhibiting the strange behavior, w/ "Look inside" not reliably working.

Good day Poor! I am glad to be able to provide assistance to you today. Have you checked and tried if this is happening on a different browser/s? If it just happened this morning from your end, have you checked it again in MS Edge as well?

    Regards,
    Paul R.

    Hi Paul,

In order to test it in other browsers, I downloaded Google Chrome yesterday.

I have difficulty with Amazon "Look inside" using Chrome as well, with the same books. Clicking on "Look inside" removes the scroll bar, and renders the page "inert", as with Edge.

I should have mentioned in my original post that in Microsoft Edge, I have no extensions, and no installed apps. Pop-up blocker is on (the default in Edge), but disabling the blocker doesn't help "Look inside".

I also want to mention that in addition to my Dell desktop, I have a Dell laptop, again running Windows 10. To the best of my ability, the laptop has the same up-to-date version of Windows 10, and also Edge, and now Chrome. (Both machines have up-to-date Norton 360.)

Edge and Chrome both misbehave doing "Look inside" on the laptop as well.

An example book that shows the problem I'm having on amazon.com:

Search for "Advanced Euclidean Geometry Johnson" on amazon.com. Click the reddish Dover paperback at the top of the results. Then click on the Paperback tab, then click on "Look inside". This is the point at which the Web page becomes "inert" (no scroll bar, no clickable links, etc.)

You're probably thinking, Hey, (some of) Amazon's Web pages are busted, go bother Amazon! I've tried, but can't find a forum in which to post a "problem report" like this.

And there's a chance that Amazon's not to blame, somehow new Chromium-based browsers don't render (old) stuff correctly.

If this is happening on both the Chromium browsers then I would suggest to send a feedback to the team that is working on MS Edge and to do that press Alt+Shift+I and cascade it from there and also send a feedback to the Chrome team by pressing the same key while the either of the browser is open.
