Over recent weeks I have suddenly encountered this blocker which at first made it difficult to access my AOL and eventually impossible to log into AOL help was useless. Now I notice there are increasing problems getting into other sites and google search is becoming impossible. I have Norton but no matter how many scans I run it doesn't touch it. It effects both Edge and Firefox. Any advice and help on getting rid of it would be appreciated. This is what pops up when I try to access AOL,

GUCE is a Yahoo Global User Consent Event, and the server your browser is unable to connect to is the one where AOL checks that you have given consent to their data collection activities. If you have tracking protection on, or more so if you have an ad blocker running, this may be one of the sites blocked. That explains the error message.

Visit this page: Privacy Dashboard and Controls | Yahoo and select the Yahoo product (e.g. AOL) to open its privacy dashboard. Deselect everything you're not happy with. Then in Edge disable tracking protection for aol.com (click Privacy, search and services > Tracking prevention > Exceptions and use the Add a site button to add aol.com*).* Make sure that tracking prevention is set to Balanced, then restart Edge. Are you now able to access aol.com?

If so, return to Tracking prevention and remove the exception you made earlier, then try again to access AOL.

If you still can't access AOL after removing Edge's tracking prevention, check the configuration of any ad blocking extensions you're running and any 'safe browsing' feature in third-party software like McAfee or Norton that you may be using.

The extent of data mining activities used by products in this Yahoo group (formerly Verizon Media and incorporating AOL among many others) is astonishing: Welcome to the Yahoo Privacy Policy. If you're at all concerned about this, you may want to reconsider using these products.

This is not a virus, so anti-virus software won't help. Nor will re-installing Windows (!).

Thank all for their help. AOL help was less than useless. I did a bunch of things, including running multiple Norton Scans, which itself was useless and bordered on ransom ware, ran Malwarebytes which seemed to clear a lot of specific things out and turned off the tracking prevention measures. Together they seemed to do the job. Problem seemed to disappear and laptop seems to run a bit faster. Thanks all

    Good Day jlee77,

My name is Carlo, I am also using Windows 10 pc and community member like you. Let us work together to sort this out.

First, try to reset the Edge

-Open Edge and click the 3 dots at the upper right side of your screen.

    -Go to Settings

    -Look for Reset Settings

-Click Restore settings to their default values.

(This will reset your startup page, new tab page, search engine, and pinned tabs. It will also disable all extensions and clear temporary data like cookies. Your favorites, history and saved passwords will not be cleared.)

Once done , scan your computer using the free version of Malwarebytes scanner to check if there are malwares or adware running in your system.

    Here's the link to download.

Once donwloaded and installed, open the app and perform a scan.

Once the scan is done , restart your computer and try to access the AOL website.

Have a wonderful day ahead and stay safe.

    Sincerely,

    Carlo T.
