Why is this browser doing things I don't want it to!? There's no way to turn this off. I turned this off in the browser and in security, it takes 4 clicks every time to download a file. I want this TURNED OFF. How and where do you disable this ****? It is so annoying.

The warnings about downloading content over an unsecured connection (i.e. over http://) while visiting an https:// site can't be turned off using the global settings you found. You'd be well advised to turn on these security measures again.

If you want always to be able to download insecure content when visiting a specific site that you trust, you can set the permission for that site. Here's how:

    1. Visit the https:// site in a new tab.
    2. Click on the padlock Image next to the URL in the address bar.
    3. Click on Permissions for this site.
    4. Scroll down to Image Insecure content and select Allow from the dropdown.

Hi ZaP. I'm Greg, 10 years awarded Windows MVP, specializing in Installation, Performance, Troubleshooting and Activation, here to help you.

Just install and set your preferred browser in Windows Settings > Apps > Default Apps, and for PDF reader in Choose Default App by File Type which can be another browser or another Reader.
Once you turn off Edge it may advertise itself after Updates, but it should not bother you any longer. I would not try to uninstall it as it can cause unintended consequences in WIndows.

Feel free to ask back any questions. Based on the results you post back I may have other suggestions if necessary.
