Other issues or features related to Microsoft Edge on Windows 10
This browser is no longer supported.
Upgrade to Microsoft Edge to take advantage of the latest features, security updates, and technical support.
MS Edge does not have the option to "Open in File Explorer". This feature was in Internet Explorer. It's easier to open a file, specifically PDFs, in file explorer than downloading the file first. You can open the files in a folder without having to download them. Downloading a file means that you have to save the document to your computer first before It can be opened. This is an unnecessary step and waste of memory space. Also, opening a PDF in web version is horrible. Again, an unnecessary and frustrating step. Please add "Open in File Explore" to MS Edge option.
Thanks,
Samia

This does not help. I want to open in File Explorer from MS Edge. PDFs will only open in Acrobat Cloud or you have to download them. In Internet Explorer, (Sorry if I left out the fact that Edge is the browser that SharePoint Online opens in. ) You can select "View in File Explorer" from the All Documents menu. This option did not carry over to MS Edge.
Thanks. I sent the request to Microsoft.
This below is from the help file from within Sharepoint. The problem (I'm assuming) is that because IE is/was so integrated with Windows that this function is available. That is not how Edge works.
Also, this is not a tech support issue but a Product Manager/Owner issue. One option to make this work would have to be a link that can be copy/pasted into File Explorer yourself. Since MS Teams uses sharepoint, perhaps the "open in file explorer" button could be there since it is native to Windows and not a separate browser... or a similar pasteable link.
Samia, I also sent a similar feedback ticket to MS based on the Alt-Shift-I combo. That's a good shortcut, Sumit!

Hi Samia,
I am Sumit, an Independent Advisor here to assist you.
In Edge Stable, I can open the file directly, like in the screenshot.
If it isn't the case for you, copy/paste the following in the Address bar.
edge://settings/downloads
Make sure Ask me what to do with each download is enabled.
Yes, thanks for the additional clarification. You are right - Edge and IE are different products, hence some features may be missing in either. Please send Feedback to Microsoft using Alt+Shift+I buttons in Edge.
