How to uninstall Microsoft Edge as of 2022 on Windows 10?

Title. I do not and will not ever have use of this browser. I am already using a different browser. I am never planning to go back to Edge, and even if I were, I would find a way to re-install it. I am looking forward to completely remove this piece of software from my computer. Not interested in hiding it or making a different browser the default. I am only interested in complete removal of it and prevention of it ever being automatically reinstalled. Many ways to uninstall it from the past have since been patched, since Microsoft has interest to make it as hard as possible for users to remove their bloatware. Uninstall button in both Settings and Control Panel (why do we even have two distinct app doing the same thing?) are greyed out / nonexistent.

Thank you in advance.

I never used any of those features and I would never care to use them.

Those were only examples. The Office programs are gradually being updated to use the Edge renderer for rich content, as are many third-party programs. I see you haven't uninstalled Internet Explorer, whose renderer is still used astonishingly widely.

... you can delete the setup.exe,

I can't imagine what effect that would have other than making it impossible to repair or uninstall the program. It is simply there to run the installer. I referred to using this utility's functions to uninstall Edge, in the same way as almost any Microsoft Installer (.msi) includes an uninstall option.

I appreciate your sentiments, but I'll say again - it's not worth the hassle to remove Edge.

I do hope you'll share your valuable opinion with Microsoft, Alex. If you post a Share link from it back here others can join in and vote it up or add to it, too.

I knew you could google how to uninstall Edge but you'd find a bunch of methods so I wanted you to know which was the one which was last reported to work here.

Let me know if I can help further. I'll stay subscribed to this thread in case you need anything else, until the system locks it in a few months.

I am already using a different browser. I am never planning to go back to Edge, ...

How did you acquire that different browser? The normal way nowadays would be simply to download it from the maker's website - but that would require you to have a browser already to be able to visit the website. That's why every operating system comes with a built-in browser optimized to work on that system (think MacOS - Safari, or Android - Google Chrome, for example). If you uninstalled Edge and your favourite browser stopped working, how would you go about repairing it with no web access?

Apart from that important consideration, Edge provides a lot of functionality for Windows (think Windows Spotlight for the lock screen, the News and interests widgets accessible from the taskbar, or many Windows apps like Weather, Clock, Microsoft Store etc.). It's much more than a web browser.

Last, if you do decide to uninstall it using its installer file (setup.exe), it will be gone until the next monthly Windows Update, which will check for its presence and re-install it if it's missing. It's really not worth the hassle.
