Clicking on Link - Open in Existing Window or New Window

I switched over from Google to Microsoft this year, now using Edge and Bing. I really like Edge compared to Chrome. About the only issue I've had is, when doing a search and clicking on a link, I would like to have the results show in the same window rather than opening a new one. I always end up with too many windows that I subsequently have to close. I've done research on this several times and never found a satisfactory solution. Seems like you have to press certain keys for certain situations.

Why not just provide an Edge setting with 2 options. The setting would say "When clicking on a link:" and the two options would be (1) Open in a new window, (2) Open in the same window.

I would choose option 2 and, as far as I remember, that has traditionally been the default or normal behavior in browsers and search engines. In my research it seems that there are lots of complaints about this issue. I think there was a way to do this pressing some key every time you clicked on a link, but that is a poor solution in my opinion.

Thanks.

    Hi John DeV,

Thank you very much for your fix. It works. I also contacted Microsoft Feedback yesterday, prior to seeing your solution, to indicate that this functionality should be available in Edge > Settings.
