If your Windows 8.1 is activated using a valid license key. You can upgrade to Windows 10 without purchasing a new license. You can use the Windows 10 media creation tool to do an in-place upgrade to Windows 10.

Another option is to clean install Windows 10 and use your Windows 8.1 license key to activate the system.
Note: I advise you to back up your important files from your main windows drive to another drive or an external drive. With this, your files are safe in case something went wrong.
