Date Format in Browser is Defaulting to DD/MM/YYYY - need MM/DD/YYYY

I am running the new Edge browser and since switching I have noticed that all my dates are set to DD/MM/YYYY.  I have done everything I can think of to fix this, but I can't seem to adjust the dates.  I will say I have seen this mostly on sites like Power BI and DevOps, but if I load those same sites using Chrome, there is no issue.

  • I have changed my languages to English/US
  • Ensured that any app settings are MM/DD/YYYY

Here is an example of what I see, and you can see my setting in DevOps are for MM/DD/YYYY

The Edge browser has a regional setting of "language" for its own use.  Go to Settings -> Languages.  Here you will see the preferred language(s) which is currently set for Edge.  Add the correct language by clicking the "Add languages" button and make sure that this new language is moved to the top of these language settings OR you can add the new language and then remove the original language that the browser was using at the time.  Note: I just added my language and moved it up to the top of the languages. Once the new language is programmed into Edge you should need to restart Edge (the browser only).  Now look at the results of your "date" fields.  It should be following the newly changed format.

I have a similar issue (I'm in Australia) so date format should be dd/mm/yyyy.

Region settings are correct on desktop.  General internet works fine, however when I look at:

SharePoint or PowerBI, it reverts to mm/dd/yyyy.  If I go to same sites using another browser, the dates are dd/mm/yyyy.

    Checked regional settings on SharePoint

It seems to be the way Edge works with the Microsoft Tenant.

Any way to chage this for multiple computers? Ive read about GPs applicationlocale and spelling settings, but have mixed results testing them.

I have the exact same issue and see that Internet Explorer 11 is able to display the date format as specified (mm/dd/yyyy).  Microsoft's web browser products are not even internally consistent with each other so Edge's behavior doesn't seem like design intent.  Perhaps a good candidate issue for the Edge development team to fix for the next software update.

I am not familiar with DevOps but for Power BI as far as I know the date formats are set by the author of the report in the Power BI Desktop which should be irrelevant of your browser settings. If only these two places are where this issue happen, I would honestly suggest that you ask this question in DevOps forums/communities as they are more specialized in this. Thanks!

I don't think this is a DevOps issue.  Here is a date format from Power BI/Edge

Here is a data format from Power BI/Chrome

Exact same page, two different browsers.
