Microsoft Edge - Translation problems - Couldn't translate this page & Couldn't translate this selection.

For several months now Microsoft Edge will not translate for me. When the message pops up asking me if I want to translate to English, I select "Translate", I see a brief "translating" message in the address bar, then it goes away with no change or translation on the page. When I select the Translate icon near the address bar, it shows "Couldn't translate this page." If I try highlighting and right-clicking, then select "Translate Selection to English" I get a pop-up that says "Couldn't translate selection. Please try again later." I have fully uninstalled Edge and reinstalled it, and tried clearing caches too.

I have also searched online for solutions, but have not had luck finding this exact issue.

Below are two screenshots showing the errors. I have had the same results on every foreign language site that I have tried.

I would sincerely appreciate any assistance as copying and pasting things to Google translate is a tedious and sometimes frustrating problem.

Try navigating to Bing Microsoft Translator and see if you have access to this website and try performing basic translation and see if it works?

Are you using any proxy or VPN?

Try press Ctrl+Shift+N and open InPrivate browsing and see if translation works in this mode?

I had the same issue with the language "English". I fixed it by selecting to translate to languages other than English.

    1. Click translate to language for example "Burmese" - in my case it translated to this language without any problems
    2. Click translate to "English" (from for example "Burmese")- and after one month of not working, it finally translated the page to English.

Edit* The language that did the trick was "Burmese", so just try clicking different languages until you hit the jack pot :D

    Thanks for a short reply!
