Edge does not sync open tabs across devices

I see persistent issues with syncing open tabs across my devices.

(similar issues - https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftedge/forum/all/edge-not-syncing-tabs/3fd3ee0a-c7e0-4244-80ac-34826203d84c)

Phone ---> Lapton sync works fine

Laptop ---> Phone (works fine EXCEPT sync of open tabs).

Right after the first initiation, sync works fine, but then in 5 mins, it stops to sync; i don't see any synced tabs.

    Hi @Lynn,

I've tried this and other options already: log out from the devices, tried to reset the sync - all is the same result: as soon as i log in back, the sync works pretty fine for a 1-2 mins, then it stops to work in laptop -->android direction.

(my internet is stable, as i said, in the same network, android -->laptop works fine)

    Hi @Lynnn,

seems like i figured out what was blocking tab sync between laptop --> phone.

its extention OneTab. The behavior is pretty interesting: just installing it is not enough to break the sync.

In case it is installed, but onetab page does not run, everything works fine, as soon as i launch it the sync brakes up

when it is running, it shows up in the following way

seems like Edge does not know how to sync such URLs.

    Hi bigwig00,

Thanks for your post in Microsoft Community.

It sounds like Edge does not sync open tabs across devices. You may try the following methods:

    1. Log out your Microsoft account from both of your phone and laptop, and then log in again to see if the sync works normal.
    2. Check and make sure the internet works well during the synchronizing.

Feel free to post back if you need further assistance.

    Best Regards,

    Hi bigwig00,

Glad to learn that your problem has been resolved. Yes, sometimes the incompatibility between the extension and the system can also lead to the syncing failure.

Thanks for your support to Microsoft products! Welcome to post back in the forum if you need any assistance in subsequence use!

    bigwig00,

I saw the autofill fails to work both on your laptop and phone, so you may take the following methods to fix autofill, and then check if your syncing problem solved.

    1. Delete the recent installed extensions. It is possible that some broken extension is causing the error you are facing.
    2. Clear Browser Cache And Cookies. The cache is the data stored by websites onto your system so that the web page can be loaded faster the next time. Sometimes, a mismatched cache can cause all sorts of error, and this error is one of them.

Open Edge and click on the three small dot icons in the upper right corner to open Settings > Select Cookies and Website Permissions > Manage and Delete Cookies and Site Data > Cookies and Data Storage of the Browsed Website > select Delete All.

    1. Check and turn on Autofill feature under Sync Option.
