Profile picture on Microsoft Account webpage is not showing and can't be restored

This is a really stupid question, but it's annoying the heck out of me. Each day I log onto the Microsoft Account Rewards Dashboard page. On it, It shows my profile info and how many points I have, etc.

As you can see from the above Snip I took of the webpage, no photo is showing in my profile. It used to show something, but a while back it disappeared and it's only shown up one day in probably the last month or 2. If I go to replace it, it allows me to upload a photo and I can click the "Save" button at the bottom, but the selected picture does not show up on the website. It's showing up at the top right of my Edge browser. And it's the correct picture on my local PC:

I have to assume it's something on the website. If I go to the same page using a browser other than Edge (in my case, Chrome), I don't see my photo there either. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I suspect this is no big deal, but as I mentioned, it's bugging me.

Thanks in advance!

I have the same issue and one thing I've noticed is if I would simply go to https://onedrive.live.com and then return to affected site - the picture would show up for me.

What seems to happen for me is roughly every 24 hours (on all devices I have, be it Xbox, mobile phone or PC) the photo "disappears" from Microsoft websites and Bing. Looking at the network traffic, it seems that shows HTTP redirected (302) instead of OK (HTTP 200). That seems to mean "you need to log in to to be able to see the photo". And I can only do that by merely accessing https://onedrive.live.com or logging off from the Microsoft account on the given website and logging back on.

I was trying random things as I've had this issue for a long time. I did use Developer Tools (F12 key) -> Network tab to get some clues.

Let us test and see when it will disappear for us again. I've accessed OneDrive 1 hour ago too. I'll post back when the picture goes "missing" again.

It *almost* looks like some web browser cookie expires. It could go like this:

    1. You go to some website (let's say https://www.microsoft.com).
    2. Website code has "display Microsoft Account profile picture" section.
    3. The profile picture is stored in https://storage.live.com. Web browser tries to access https://storage.live.com but https://storage.live.com responds with "please log in to https://storage.live.com first as I don't know who you are".
    4. Website does not log in to https://storage.live.com (it has no such section in it's code, maybe?) so cannot show the picture.

However, if you go to https://storage.live.com or https://onedrive.live.com then https://storage.live.com already remembers you for next visits. So in point 3 https://storage.live.com would remember you and show the picture.

Either way - it's just my guess and I'm surprised that people don't report the issue more often. I just found your thread 2 hours ago...

Hi V. I'm Greg, an Independent Advisor, Volunteer Moderator and 10 year Windows MVP here to help you.

The Microsoft Account profile picture is different than the one in WIndows 10. You set the MSA profile picture in My Profile > Edit Profile > Change Picture starting here; https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/profile/331...

Hi Greg. Thanks for responding. I was aware that the Microsoft Account profile picture ≠ the one in Windows 10 (on my local device). Oddly, I wasn't aware of the path you gave to set the MSA profile picture. I did that, and now instead of a "v" in my picture here, you should see the picture that I want to appear (and was always appearing before) on the first picture that I posted from my Microsoft Account Rewards page.

Once I made the change you described and I saw my picture had changed here, I assumed it would also change on my Microsoft Account Rewards page, but it didn't.

The Windows 10 Account pictures is set in Windows Settings > Accounts > Your Info > Create your Picture.

Based on the results you post back I may have other suggestions if necessary.

Yes, that was the 2nd photo I had in my original question that I posted. However, as I mentioned above, it's still unchanged on the Rewards page. If I go to Microsoft account | Your profile I see this:

If I click on the "Change Photo" button, a pop-up appears and it looks like this:

As you can see, there is no photo, yet the "Remove photo" is blued and active at the bottom, so it *thinks* there's a photo there. If I click "Remove photo", it prompts me asking if I want to remove the photo, I click "Yes" and now I see the "Remove photo" greyed out.

Lastly, I click "Add a photo" and it appears that it has found the photo and I have placed it properly in the circle:

So I hit the "Save" button and it closes the pop-up and I now see this:

So bottom line, the photo was changed, but it doesn't show up here, and therefore (for whatever reason), doesn't show up on my Microsoft Account Rewards page.

    Any ideas?? :)
