My Edge, Chrome & Brave Browsers Won't Connect To The Internet

Just 4 days ago I was playing Jedi Survivor on my desktop PC running Windows 10. I was able to browse the internet at will from any of my 3 browsers; Edge, Chrome or Brave. No problem, no issue.

Today, I can access the full internet, browser and all from my Arris SBG7600 AC2 WIFI modem/router combo from my WIFI tablet with no issue.

From the same modem router, my desktop PC running Windows 10, I can watch YouTube videos though Real Player.

I ran a successful ping to google.com, I can install app updates, and check Windows Updates for any updates too, I just can't access the internet through any of my browsers.

Between now and when the problem started, (4 days ago), I made NO setting changes or installed any drivers that might of caused this issue.

HELP PLEASE! WHAT CAUSED THIS ISSUE AND HOW DO I FIX IT? What's the issue here? Is it my router/modem or is it a setting some where on my desktop PC that was inadvertently toggled?

Here's What I Tried With No Success:

* I installed Firefox browser - Only THIS browser works. It worked prior to running Windows 10 In Place Upgrade

* I ran Windows 10 In Place Upgrade - Didn't help! Edge & Chrome continues to show No Internet Connection

* I ran Windows Restore - Didn't help!

Within the Edge browser, I accessed Internet Properties:

* I ran Restore Advanced Settings - Didn't help!

* I reset Internet Explorer's to their default condition - Didn't help!

* I went to Windows 10 Apps & Features scrolled down to Microsoft Edge and ran MODIFY. It simply reinstalled a fresh version of Edge - Didn't help.

* Reset Network - Didn't help

* Reset Network Settings - Didn't help

* Change DNS - Didn't help

* I did a hard reboot to my SBG7600 AC2 Wifi modem/router combo. Didn't help.

* I unplugged my PC and router/modem for 30 seconds and plugged them back in again.

Didn't help.

* I ran Windows Internet Connections Troubleshooter and Network Adapter Troubleshooter. Didn't help.

* My Device Manager shows NOTHING out of order. NO red flags here.

* I successfully pinged Google.com

* I bought a brand new Ethernet cable, Didn't help.

* I ran my PC in Safe Mode with Networking - Didn't help.

* I plugged my desktop PC Ethernet cable into another port on the back of my wifi modem router, didn't help.

I'm stumped! What do I do? Thank you kindly for your time.

Lex

P.S.

7/20/2023 -

You're not going to believe this. I get home, I turn on my desktop PC I did nothing to it except turn it on. I open my Chrome & Edge browser just to see if they're working, & POOF! My Edge & Chrome browser are NOW accessing the Internet. Later that week I made no setting changes and I'm back to where I was before. No internet connection thru Edge or Chrome but Firefox works fine.

Figure that one out. Can anyone explain what happened here?

    Hello Lexx,

    Thank you for using Microsoft products and posting to the community.

    We fully understand the inconvenience the issue has caused and that the current situation can be frustrating.  I greatly appreciate your active attempts to address this issue.

    In your description I noticed that you don't seem to have tried to reset the network, currently you can refer to the following steps to test and share the results with me.

    1. Reset Network
    • Search CMD, open it and find the Command Prompt (Run as administrator)
    • In the command box that pops up, type the following commands in order (type the next one after each line is run) netsh winsock reset netsh int ip reset ipconfig /release ipconfig /renew ipconfig /flushdns
    • Reboot the computer to see if the problem can be solved.
    1. Reset Network settings
    • Press Windows+R key, type inetcpl.cpl, open Internet Properties, click Advanced, and check "Use SSL 3.0", "Use TLS 1.0", "Use "Use TLS 1.1", "Use TLS 1.2", apply it and restart your computer to see if it solves the problem.
    1. Change DNS
    • Press Windows+R key and type ncpa.cpl in the Run box.
    • Click the name of the network you are currently connected to, open the WLAN Status window, click Properties, and double-click Internet Protocol version 4 (TCP/IPv4) in the Network Properties window.
    • Set the DNS server to "4.2.2.1" and "4.2.2.2" manually, confirm and restart the computer to see if the problem can be solved.

    Please feel free to let me know if you have any further updates, thanks.

    Sincerely

    * Reset Network - Didn't help

    * Reset Network Settings - Didn't help

    * Change DNS - Didn't help

    Should I try this setting? See image above. I'm using Edge, Chrome and Brave, will it matter?

    Was I supposed to checkmark the box marked "validate settings upon exit"? Because I did checkmark the box.

    Do I need to revert those DNS Server settings 4.2.2.1 & 4.2.2.2 back to what they were before I made the change or can they be left as they are without disrupting internet modem/router wifi service?

    What were those DNS server numbers before I changed them? Do I need to change them back?

    Hi Lex,

    According to your previous description if the internet is running on the device, it's not a Windows specific issue.

    It looks like your internet is available for updating applications/Windows as well as other things, so this seems to be an issue with the browser itself.

    You could try using a different browser that doesn't use the same platform (currently only Firefox) and see if it has issues as well to try to diagnose what's happening.

    After that, resetting all applications and doing an in-place install would be the next step I would recommend.

    Let’s try performing an in-place install or in-place upgrade which will refresh your Windows files and operating system without removing files or applications. That being said, we always recommend that if you have important data, you should back it up before making large system changes. If you want to back up your data first, please do so. Once you are done backing up, you can follow the steps in the following guides: How to perform an In-place Upgrade with Windows 10 Step-by-Step Guide - Microsoft Community

    If none of this helps, contact the app developer (Edge/Chrome/Brave) and submit feedback, and contact the ISP to see if something is blocking the browser from accessing the internet.

    If there is anything not clear, please do not hesitate to let me know.

    Your Sincerely
