How to fix no sound on browser issue.

I have been trying to fix this problem for months and can't figure it out. I have no audio from my speakers when I am trying to play sound on any browser. I have sound using Spotify or Teams, but not on the browser (Edge or Chrome). The first time this happened, I was able to roll back the driver and that fixed the problem. I have made sure the tabs aren't muted, the browser settings are all as they should be and they have permission to use audio, I have rolled back and updated the driver, I have uninstalled/reinstalled the device and drivers. I purchased new speakers and they are doing the same thing. Has anyone found another fix?

I read the original post and he said the browser tab was not muted. Paul suggested checking the volume mixer which would be a different area where you can adjust the volume for individual programs/apps without having to adjust the volume for the computer itself.

I am still looking into this issue myself so any information someone else can provide would be helpful and I will update the post if I find another solution.

So.. I just had this issue on one of my users pc's none of the reset options from the recommended solutions worked.

Same issues: no sound from browsers for youtube, nothing from windows media player, but the teams app was working. Attempted to uninstall the audio drivers, rebooted machine, still nothing. reset audio settings to default as mentioned in previous posts, toggled the sound on and off for all applications that werent working, changed volume sliders, etc.. nope.

    Windows 11 Pro

    Dell Latitude 5590

    Resolved:

However as soon as i disabled the audio enhancement option under

System > Sound > Properties, selected "speakers" Realtek Audio

Then under Audio Enhancements I disabled it, then the sound started instantly blasting from the speakers.

Hope this helps some out there too. Because we all know the windows troubleshooter is hot garbage and needs to stop wasting user's time.

Had the same issue. Went to Settings>Sound>Speakers and switched "Audio Enhancements" to off. When "Device Default Effects" is selected it mutes all audio coming from any browser playing thru the built in speakers.
