Since the last MS Edge update my computer has crashed numerous times a day. I tried all the suggested fixes as follows to no avail!
Nothing worked my computer kept locking up numerous times a day when using MS Edge. I preferred this browser but was forced to use GOOGLE Chrome ... I no longer experience any crashes!!! Regrettable that MS Edge is now an unstable product.

I just spent 1/3 of my monthly available money, ordering a refurbished computer because after the recent "Quality"-type Microsoft update, my computer kept crashing, but when it was not crashing, (and causing the American Megatrends Operating System codes and selections to appear and I have never before seen that, with the computer always previously opening to Windows, I reasonably assumed my computer was dead.
Well, now that I am out the money, and the refurbished computer is on its way, I tried something, and the computer has not made a sound, nor crashed for 6 hours now. Usually, once signed in, I open Google and use Google for everything, and very rarely, Bing. This time, I opened through Edge/Bing, and typed in my search.
I have no add-ons - nothing more than the applications that came on this computer. It is a PC - Desktop. The computer did not fix itself. Someone from Microsoft would have to give me a very hard sell to convince me that the update, combined with using Google, did not foul it. But of course, there is no one at Microsoft to talk to about this.
Imagine spending the entire rest of the day HOPING the computer would crash again, and start making the Morse code-like sounds again, to justify spending money on a 'new' computer. (I do not use Chrome. There is only Edge - and I only use Edge because I use Yahoo Mail, which demands it, or, at least that was what Yahoo had advised was the case.
I cannot see well enough to go through all the various checks, nor would I dare uninstall the recent update if I could even do so, without risking further problems. I have no other devices but the desktop PC. I do not have a cell phone, android - none of that. For one lousy update - which took over an hour - and there is next to nothing on this computer - to cause actual physical distress and loss of money - well, the computer had better crash before long, or, all answers that claim that there is not interference between Edge and Google are questionable. (I am the sole person using this computer).
PS Since Microsoft can access my computer, why could it not analyze, and possibly fix the problem with the update, and - if this is the case - the kink that appears to make using a Google search, (not set as the default search), crash the computer continuously, (until not going directly to Google) - which still makes the update of an hour inconceivable, and, will Microsoft pay for the return shipping on what looks like will be an unnecessary purchase - as THIS computer still has not crashed and caused all manner of angst, and the burning of funds.
Sorry Igor I only use the Norton Add ON ...there is a bug in the current version ... obviously you have no idea what it is. I'll use Google Chrome for now as it seems stable ... keep sending out your possible fixes that don't work. I'll be back as a faithful Edge User when you face the fact that it's your issue.
Please check installed add-ons, there must be more then only Norton.
Try if the problem exists in InPrivate mode.
The only add-ons I have is Norton Password Manager. I use Norton Password Manager in Google Chrome and have no issues.
I never use InPrivate mode
I started using MS Edge about 3 or 4 years ago and have never had this issue, only since the last update. I suspect it's related to AI or Copilot features.
Hi,
My name is Igor, it's a pleasure for me to help others and I'll do all my best to help you.
Did you check add-ons installed in Edge?
Do these freezes occur in InPrivate mode?
