Earlier today I noticed I had a suspicious google extension added by my organisation, which I found strange. I can't turn it off nor edit any of its permissions, and the ID is just a long string of gibberish
It is titled Antilocapridae and the ID chrome-extension://bkiggjnmmklpjdbbigddpkabedgdegdf
When I tried to enter it, it was blocked:
I also checked the information, and it said it was not from the Chrome Web Store
I think I may have accidentally installed a virus, and I also discovered I had a browser hijacker on Saturday after using google and being directed to yahoo or bing every search, however I've ran 5 scans and my computer has not discovered anything on it
I feel the extension and hijacker are linked together and so, how can I remove it?
I've switched browsers from google chrome to edge and the extension is still there on both of them

Hello OK0911, how are you doing?

I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble with a suspicious browser extension and browser hijacker.
The fact that the extension is managed by your organization and cannot be turned off or edited is a red flag. It is possible that the extension was installed by malware or a bad actor.
I recommend that you try the following steps to remove the extension and hijacker:
This is an advanced solution, so please follow the instructions carefully:
-Open the Registry Editor (regedit.exe).
-Navigate to the following key:
For Chrome: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Google\Chrome\ExtensionInstallSources
For Edge: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Edge\ExtensionInstallSources
-Locate the extension you want to remove. The value of the key will be the extension's ID, which is a long string of alphanumeric characters.
-Right-click on the extension key and select "Delete".
-Confirm the deletion.
--
Once you have removed the extension, you should verify that the browser hijacker has been removed. If the browser hijacker is still present, you will need to remove it manually or use a third-party tool.
--
This can be useful if you have a restore point that was created before installing the extension or browser hijacker.

I hope this helps you.
