Opening and reading PDF files in Microsoft Edge on Windows 10

Hi there. I use Edge to view PDFs because there is a built-in way to add text boxes to markup the document. I recently updated to version 114.0.1823.41. Firstly I noticed that when I open a PDF I previously edited, there is a * next to the filename in the tab that indicates I have unsaved changes, even though I haven't made any changes. Then, when I tried to create a new text box, then hit save and close and reopen the file, my newly added text is gone.
Does anyone have the same issue or just me? Is there a fix? Thank you.

I followed your instructions, and it did not change. The only edit buttons now available are the pen, highlighter and eraser. The add text button is gone.
Following, where did the text box edit feature go??
