Installing or updating Microsoft Edge on Android devices
This browser is no longer supported.
Upgrade to Microsoft Edge to take advantage of the latest features, security updates, and technical support.
Hello everyone,
I have an older Mac running macOS 10.13.6, and I recently updated Microsoft Edge to the latest version. Unfortunately, it seems that the newest version of Microsoft Edge is only compatible with macOS 10.15 and higher.
Since my Mac is not capable of being updated further, I’m unable to use the latest version of Microsoft Edge.
I was wondering if there’s a way to install an older version of Microsoft Edge that is compatible with macOS 10.13.6? If so, could you please guide me on how to do it? I would greatly appreciate any help or suggestions.
Thank you in advance!

Good day magide! I am glad to be able to provide assistance to you today. Kindly head over to the link below, scroll at the bottom
of the page and under looking for an older version of edge try to download the installer file (select the channel which is 116 and check the build of either the ones that was previous installed and working and select mac os universal under platform).
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/edge/business/d...
Additionally, you can also send a feedback to the team that is working on Edge and hopefully a fix will be applied soon on the next update so that it will still be compatible for previous MacOS and you can provide a feedback from the browser itself by clicking on the 3 dots > Help and feedback > Send feedback.

Paul R.
I went to the link, chose channel 116, the latest build, & macOS for platform, clicked the download button, the licensing terms pop up but I don't see a button to accept or continue. Is this option only available for Business accounts?
I tried the other builds as well, same result.
I don't know how to PM you here, so I'll just copy and paste my possible solutions to this problem here, I wouldn't recommend installing the Extended Stable version, it will only delay the problem a little bit more, just you have to know that your data is fine, and any questions you can have, I will answer only for these 2 possible solutions, but for me has been working perfectly.
Here is the link to the latest version of Edge for our old systems: https://msedge.sf.dl.delivery.mp.microsoft.com/filestreamingservice/files/c88cf1ac-b566-4541-b160-048cb0fefadc/MicrosoftEdge-116.0.1938.81.pkg
This is what I posted yesterday here:
"Ok, I think I got it, you have two solutions for disabling Edge updates on a Mac:
1.- Delaying Notification Updating Time: First, download a Profile Manager like iMazing (you can download it in the App Store for free) for example, create a Payload for Edge, modify "RelaunchNotificationPeriod" or Notificacion Updating Time to "999999999", this will erase any notification of updating for Edge, as you can see, this solution may delay those notifications to 11-12 days, at least, oh, by the way, with this solution, you CAN'T go to edge://settings/help
It will download the latest update if you do it, if you do it accidentally, you must erase the app ONLY from Applications Folder, then reinstall the previous version, then, you're good.
2.- This solution I took it from other forum, in which people were having the same problem with older MacBooks.
First, you need a Text Processor (like Sublime Text), then, you have to copy the code from below, and save it as a ".mobileconfig" (without quotation marks) file, then you need to install it as a Profile (Device Profile), this is a Payload for Edge that was tested to deny connections to Edge's Update Server.
Edit 1: Almost I forgot it, you can check if the 2nd solution worked, just by restarting Edge: edge://restart (SAVE YOUR SESSION OR TABS BEFORE RESTARTING, JUST IN CASE).
Edit 2: You can save your Session/Tabs with "Tab Session Manager" addon, you can get it in the Microsoft Edge Addons website or the Chrome Web Store.
I hope this can help everyone here, if one solution goes wrong, try both, literally, you have nothing to lose, many thanks to each and every one of you who tried to find a solution, I hope you are having a nice day!."

First substance, then opinion.
Well, the culprit is the EdgeUpdater.
Per Microsoft:
Microsoft Edge on macOS
How this will affect your organization:
If you do not transition before the new EdgeUpdater is deployed with Edge 113 (scheduled for the week of May 4. 2023), the new updater will default to updating Microsoft Edge automatically on your macOS devices.
So the question remains, how can one stop the EdgeUpdater from automatically updating your previously functional version to the Chrome 117 version that requires Mac OS 15. This is a significant oversight by what I consider to be the World's greatest software company (Microsoft).
Even if I reinstall the older version of Edge, will the EdgeUpdater continue to automatically "blow it's you know what's out?"
Please advise Microsoft.
Opinion
By the way, Google "owns" the Chromium project, and their reasoning for ceasing updates on older versions of OS X is just plain ridiculous. If they were really concerned with the intrinsic security capability of the underlying operating system, they never would have deployed Chrome on Android. By the way, don't modern browsers operate with a sandbox, and enforce the same origin policy?
Think about it...
I can't believe there was that much conditional code in the builds for Chrome under OS X Intel, particularly 10.13.6. There are many Mac software vendors who create apps that run on OSX, 11 and beyond, typically from 10.4 forward. I do it. xcode supports it.
Are they just lazy, or in cahoots with Apple trying to sell M1 and M2 hardware under ARM?
One last point. Google has removed all legacy downloads from their sites for Chrome. If you didn't get the critical 116.0.5845.187 update, you can't download it anymore. Moreover, their sites, including consumer and business, only offer the latest version now, which will not even install or run under Mac OS earlier that 15.
Thanks Google and the Chromium project for nothing. You are behaving like monopolists.
The attraction of open source and so-called free software is falling by the wayside. When big companies do what they do best (ignore the very customers that made them big in the first place), that creates opportunities for others to TAKE THEIR PLACE!
Sorry for the rant, but conduct like this seems hypocritical by the "Do No Evil" crowd.
In my ever humble but quite well informed opinion.
To deactivate updates for Edge, you need to either remove "Microsoft Update" or change it to not download updates automatically. I already looked for this and found that on another thread.
To delete it, just (you can just use GO on the main toolbar and then Go to the Folder and put /Library/ hit return, then you can browse!
open /library/applications/Application Support/Microsoft and inside Mau2.0 you will find the Microsoft Update app..
(I would suggest moving the folder out of the way in case you need!)
I think also Microsoft Update has a tick box to set it to auto-update, you can do that too, but remember it wont update any office products onces you remove the Updater!
