Managing profiles and sync in Microsoft Edge on Windows 10
This browser is no longer supported.
Upgrade to Microsoft Edge to take advantage of the latest features, security updates, and technical support.
We are using Windows 11 on a laptop. When my wife starts Microsoft edge, it automatically starts with my profile, and I am automatically logged in. I want Edge to start with my wife's account/profile. I have been unable to get Edge to do this. It starts with my account/profile and then I have to switch it to my wife's account. I have searched the internet for a solution, but nothing that I tried has worked.
The last thing I tried was going to SETTINGS -> PROFILES in Edge. Two profiles showed up, mine and my wife's. There were three "ellipses" next to mine {but not hers}. I removed my profile, and this was successful, however, it did not change Edge startup behavior.
I am the "Administrator" on the laptop.
Any help would be appreciated.
Regards.

Hi, Lynda. I'm Robinson, and I’m happy to help you today.
You can use this procedure to reset Edge, and then configure your wife's profile as the default profile.
Step 1:
1-Close the Microsoft Edge
2-Press Ctrl+Shift+Esc to open the Task Manager
3-Search for Microsoft Edge
4-Right-click on that and select "End task"
Step 2:
1-Right-click on Start then click on Run
2-Type: %localappdata%\Microsoft\Edge and click on Ok
3-Right-click on the folder "User Data" and select rename
4-Enter a new name for the folder like "User DataOld" and press Enter to rename it
5-Then open Microsoft Edge and follow the instructions to configure the profile
Alert: This procedure will remove all Edge data and settings.
