I have a client using Office 365 with OWA disabled. When opening items on the Outlook client calendar, a Google Chrome tab(Default Web browser) opens. up This slows down performance and sometimes crashed Outlook. I discover that uninstalling Microsoft Edge WebView2 fixes the issue. However, it doesn't matter what I do, it always gets re-installed, I assume by Microsoft Edge or Windows Updates. Is there a way to stop Microsoft Edge WebView2 from launching or re-installing itself?
Note: This happens on WIn 10 and 11, also on several versions of Edge and Webview2

Yes, it's basically indistinguishable from MS-sponsored malware.
Hogs memory, burns CPU cycles, slows everything down and every time you -finally- manage to eradicate it, it's forced back on you.
its may and I'm still dealing with it
The main issue was fixed in April. There were some users still affected, and a second fix was rolled out on 16 May. Please check the support document.
It doesnt work how about you just make it so the app can be removed instead of making up a bunch of links that dont solve the actual problem.

Who thought that shackling the OS to Edge was a good idea? FIRE THAT PERSON..
It doesnt work
Does this mean that despite having ensured that Outlook and Exchange are fully updated, you're still seeing the behaviour described in the support document? If so, you should open a support ticket so the team responsible can find out why the solution isn't working for you.

Windows 11 can't really function properly without WebView2.
I'm glad I dont' work for MS - there is a way to disable this but I am sure MS will delete my post. As for Windows 11 not being able to function properly - utter rubbish. Okay, Windows 11 is not a real OS to start with (apart from what I believe to be the biggest spyware program on the planet) but it DOES NOT NEED this utter BS webview to function.
