I've bee trying to stop Microsoft Edge (and/or Microsoft Edge Update) from automatically starting when Win 11 is turned on. Sometimes the Edge browser opens. Other times when I open Chrome I see a window open and close. All times (even when Edge doesn't open) I see the process in Task Manager. Tried all the solutions on the Web. Today I checked the PPID and found svchost.exe started the process.

    1. Press Start then search Settings > Apps > Startup > Please try to turn everything off. Check if Edge will no longer start automatically.
    2. Kindly check if you're using Windows Spotlight in your lock screen. Once you click Edge, it will automatically search for any word that you click after unlocking the device. It's recommended to change your lock screen settings.

I've done 1 & 2 previously. 3 looks like it solved issue. I've been having issue for years. Chrome give me better searches than Edge. Edge gives too many duplicates too focus on Microsoft answers. Problem started with Windows 10 and continued when updated to Windows 11. I had internet issues and reset my PC. Uninstalled all Apps, but problem still occurred after reset.
