Hi Blend Ozeri

Welcome to the Microsoft Community

I understand your problem and cannot turn off (Safe Search) in Microsoft Edge

Based on the situation you described, you may have encountered regional mandatory restrictions or system-level policy locks.

Detect IP geolocation

Visit the Bing settings page to check if the prompt "Bing Safe Search has been locked to strict based on the requirements of your country/region" is displayed.

https://www.bing.com/account/general

If this prompt exists, it means that the law in your region requires that safe search be enabled and cannot be turned off in the usual way.

System DNS settings

Some network operators filter content through DNS. Try changing to a public DNS (such as Google's 8.8.8.8)

Create a new user account

Create a new local account (non-Microsoft account) in Windows, log in and test whether Edge is still restricted to rule out account configuration issues.

In the Settings app on your Windows device, select Accounts > Other users

Under Add another user, select Add account

To create a local account, select the option "Add a user without a Microsoft account"

Follow the instructions to complete the account setup and set it as an administrator account

Restart the computer and log in to the account for testing

Contact me if you need anything else.

Best wishes

    Hello, MS Community

I am having the same issue with SafeSearch and the dreaded warning, "Your country or region requires a strict Bing SafeSearch setting,"

I am writing an article on sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and EVERY search is blocked!!! I Live in the United States. The last time I checked there is NO FEDERAL LAW that prevents me from searching on the Internet for STI information. I live in the state of Indiana, while very conservative, there are no state laws that prevent searching for STI information.

ALL of the responses I read on MS Community repeat the same stock information that does not apply to the United States or Indiana and definately does not solve the problem. Someone at MS needs to develop a solution to this problem so users can TURN OFF SAFESEARCH.

Some of the solutions are not solutions. NO, I will not open a NEW account, I will not install CHROME, I will not use a thrid-party browser, and NO, I will not turn-off my firewall, as was suggested by one Community user.

So, does ANYBODY from MS have a real solution to the dreaded problem?

"Your country or region requires a strict Bing SafeSearch setting" is flat out ridiculous.

    Dear Merek.Z

the problem is solved by changing (IPv4 DNS) to (8.8.8.8) and alternative DNS to (8.8.4.4) and didn't need to follow the other steps (Create a new user account).

    thanks
