Another Microsoft Cashback is a scam

Just got a reply back from missing Microsoft cashback.

"Upon review, we have found that the specific purchase you made does not meet the criteria for cashback because it shows that other cashback service was used."

I do not have a cashback extension, I don't even have an adblock extension on Edge browser. The only extension I have is Google Docs Offline and that is disabled.

They are clearly lying to prevent paying out cashback. 100% scammers.

I only used Edge for searching and Microsoft Rewards.

Chrome was strictly used for shopping, but Edge has Microsoft cashback built in so I used that.

It is impossible for me to use another cashback service on Edge since I have never used a cashback service on Edge until that Microsoft cashback order.

I already provided the screenshot showing my freshly placed Walmart order (with order # and items) and next to it showing the Edge pop 30% cashback activated at Walmart.

Even with that screenshot and explanation they still chose to make up a ridiculous lie to deny cashback. How can there be another cashback service active if Microsoft cashback shows activated? It is 100% a scam and blatant lie by Microsoft. Others have also complained about Microsoft cashback scamming them. This is not an isolated issue.

They already said, "Rest assured, we’ll conduct a thorough investigation." And their "investigation" resulted in a lie and denial. I seriously doubt they will do a proper investigation such as providing technical details on explaining their lie. Most likely more lies to backup the initial lie.

Microsoft Cashback support request number is 7060445204. You guys should be aware of them scamming people. I hope a class action lawsuit happens in the future.

    Dear WilliamHorng

Thank you for posting in the Microsoft community.

It sounds like you are experiencing a frustrating situation with the Microsoft Cashback service and I'm sorry for your experience.

As Community Support agents, we can't help you directly with inquiries about the cause of the Cashback anomaly.

However, I can provide some helpful suggestions and practical steps to help you deal with this issue.

    Question about Microsoft Cashback statement

It is true that Microsoft Cashback (or any other similar cashback service) may have technical or rules-related issues that make cashback untraceable. However, the following points are worth noting:

    1. They usually cite conflicting rules for using “other cashback services”. If you are sure you are not using another service, clearly stating this can help to further resolve the issue.
    2. Some embedded browser extensions, cookies or third-party redirects may mislead the cashback system into attributing tracked traffic to other cashback services.

Below are the action steps you can take:

Speak to Microsoft Customer Service again

Complain about their proposed response, where you can provide more details and ask them to re-verify. Please keep the following points in mind when raising the issue:

Point 1: Make sure it's clear that you didn't use another cashback service

Carefully explain the details of your actions, such as the browser you used to browse for the product and complete the purchase, the steps you took (e.g. whether you clicked through to the merchant's website directly from Microsoft's Cashback page), the extension, and the cleanup.

Mention that you don't have any other cashback extensions or even turned off your Google Docs Offline.

Point 2: Ask them for concrete proof

If their system thinks there are other cashback services involved, you can ask them to clarify:

What evidence points to a conflict.

Whether there are timestamps or transaction records that show a mismatch.

With this step, you can clarify exactly where the problem lies.

    Contacts:

If you're submitting an inquiry through the Cashback platform or Microsoft Rewards, make sure you use the complaint channel provided.

Also contact the Microsoft Support team and use a calm but clear tone in your request.

Make sure you clear your browser cache and cookies

Some third-party cookies, such as those from other shopping sites and small cashback, points or coupon services, may inadvertently interfere with the Cashback system. The following are steps to improve your operation:

Step: Clear Browser Cache and Cookies

    1. Open Microsoft Edge and press Ctrl + Shift + Delete.
    2. Check “Cookies and other site data” and “Cached images and files” and click Clear.
    3. Close and restart your browser.

New way to view the Cashback page

    1. Enable Privacy Mode (Browse Window Without Trace).

In Edge, press Ctrl + Shift + N to open the InPrivate form.

    1. Visit the official Microsoft Cashback page.
    2. Make sure you go to the target merchant through Cashback's referral link to complete your purchase.

Disclaimer: Your browser automatically saves temporary internet files to help pages load faster. Clearing this cache will sometimes fix page display problems. Please back up all your personal files first, such as Favorites, to ensure you do not lose data.

Verify compliance with cashback rules and merchant participation

Some cashback services may have conditions attached to specific merchants and products. To ensure that your transaction is compliant, please double-check the following:

    1. whether the product is within the merchant's supported Cashback range: some discounted items or special regulations may exclude the transaction.
    2. Whether the transaction was recorded: If you didn't enter the merchant through the Cashback referral link, the cashback may not be recorded.

You can give more specific information when a previous dialog complaint failed, including:

Ensure you entered from the redirected Cashback link as requested.

Provide the time of the transaction, merchant name and product name to help them pinpoint the problem.

    Checking for third-party interferences

Many cashback systems can cause tracking issues due to other third party interference. Here are some common sources:

    1. Ad-blocking tools: If your browser has ad-blocking enabled (even if the extension has nothing to do with advertising), this may interfere with Cashback's cookie tracking process.

Make sure you disable all ad-blocking tools when using Cashback.

    1. Interference by other extensions: Some obscure extensions may mistakenly block or tamper with traffic, returning incorrect tracking results.

Ensure that you are using the Cashback service without extensions. If in doubt, consider temporarily disabling all extensions and browsing the site in privacy mode.

    1. Multiple Shopping Cashback Conflicts: Even if you are not explicitly using another cashback service, other background programs and plug-ins may be interfering.

For example, if another cashback platform has been visited before, a cookie set by them may recognize the transaction.

Provide transaction details and use screenshots to prove it

To further strengthen your appeal, ensure that you provide as much detailed evidence as possible to increase the chances of a successful appeal:

    Provide the following details:

    Date of purchase.

Name of the merchant from whom the purchase was made.

    Transaction amount.

The time of the Cashback tracking link and the browser used.

Whether or not you received a confirmation of the transaction (if Cashback provided this information).

If the transaction page or Cashback page supports screenshots, you should save a screenshot before you make a purchase to show that you entered the merchant's website through the Cashback platform and completed a compliant transaction. (If you don't save it, but can remember to do so when using Cashback in the future.)

    Best Wish
