Edge translation button not visible

There should be a translation button on address field bar, not on my version:

I have the latest Edge update (on Win10). I read that the translator should be there by default.

settings/language showing like that:

What is wrong, and how to make the translate option available?

Main idea is to open ebook file on Edge browser, then to translate it with Edge's browser translator, and then using "read aloud" option (to have "self made" audio book version"

I hope someone could help me.

I see. Unfortunately, I'm not sure if there's any alternative to it other than the extension I mentioned. In this case, I suggest you submit this feedback by pressing Alt+Shift+I to improve this feature hopefully in future updates.

Okay, I removed "english" from the preferred languages list, and now the pages are translated. I tried that extension with the advices, but it wasn't really practical. I don't think the extension is well made, it doesn't transfer the translated version well in an easy form to use. The text goes actually to editor.

Just a strange thing, while I have both "translate text" and "speak aloud"... but "translate" doesn't work when I open the PDF file, but the "speak aloud" would work... and then when I move selected and copied text to online notepad, there's no more "speak aloud" option on menu when I right click. There's only the "speak aloud" button on address bar, but that will read the full page, not the selected area. So even the Edge/Microsoft have some work to do with this tool. Hopefully soon better.

Firefox is my default browser, and the translation/speaking goes there much more easily - EXCEPT the extension has only 1 voice for my language, which is not as impressive as the one which Microsoft has... that's why I am messing here in Edge.

Thanks for answering. I thought that at least PDF page could be working, but it's not. I didn't see the translation button even on the websites. Like right now on this page, which is in English, I don't see the translate button. But if I right click, I can see that option in the selection.

So finally I can copy the text from PDF to online Notepad, and like that I can get the Microsoft's "read aloud" voice. But something about that: How can I get only the selected text to be translated? Now I see the "read aloud" option only in the address bar, and it will start to read the full page, which is not always what I want.

It seems to be possible to read the selected text on some websites (with the right click option), but not on that Notepad page.

I didn't really catch you text "you may try this extension to view and download the translated version of the file and then open it in Edge to use the Read Aloud feature."

I installed that extension, but didn't know how to view and download the translated version, and to open it where exactly? in Edge? but how?

If English is already under your preferred language list, the website will not offer it to be translated. Only languages that are not in your preferred languages are gonna be offered.

About the extension, you will have to open the file in Edge (PDF) and then click the extension. Select the target language and then click Translate. You will now have a side-by-side view of the original and translated version. From that window, you can click the Save icon to save the translated version so you can open it later and use the Read Aloud feature.

Hi Zabarracca, I am Paulo and I'd like to help.

Unfortunately, Edge can only offer translation automatically if it is a website. As mentioned in the description, it detects the language on the webpage and offers to translate it. This will not take effect on an ebook file.

However, you may try this extension to view and download the translated version of the file and then open it in Edge to use the Read Aloud feature. This uses the Microsoft Translator as well and is just a workaround.
