Why do the Tabs in Tab Groups suddenly keep rearranging instead of staying in the order I place them?

Update: The setting in this thread seems to have restored it to the way it worked before:

Edge is automatically reordering tab groups - Microsoft Community

Apparently this is either a new setting or something in an update changed it. But after setting this, the problem below seems to be fixed.

Thank you.

=================

Edge Version 127.0.2651.74 (Official build) (64-bit) on Windows 10 Pro.

This has to be a new bug. Have been using Edge for years and never had this problem.

Something really annoying suddenly changed in the past few versions.

I have 4 Tab Groups and the tabs in each group keep randomly changing their vertical order. Before I could arrange the tabs in each group in vertical order and they would stay in that order unless I manually rearranged them. Now the order of the tabs in each group seems to be randomly rearranged constantly. I put them back in order and the next thing I know they are completely scrambled again.

And the order of the Tab Groups themselves also changes.

It's extremely annoying and inefficient. I have them in a certain order for a reason and now I can no longer do that. I assume it was something that happened from a recent update. Something changed.

Please help because this is ruining my entire workflow.

Thank you.

Update: I received a response from another Edge user in another forum that he had the exact same problem.

Update: Still happening in 127.0.2651.86.

I have the same exact annoying problem with my vertical tabs. Every day I open Edge, and my vertical tab groups are upside down. I have opened tabs from a previous session, and that does nothing to solve the issue.

Thank you for your reply. The link in the update on my original post had a solution which resolved the problem.

Go to Edge Settings > Start, home, and new tabs > select the option "Open tabs from the previous session"

This fixed it. I never changed that setting so I do not know what happened. But thank you for your follow-up and for providing a forum where I was able to get help!

    Hi, Ryan_389

    Welcome to the Microsoft community.

From your description, it seems that your issue has already been resolved? We are unable to reproduce your problem, which might have been caused by some configuration files being corrupted during an update. If you encounter similar issues in the future, you can try rolling back the Edge version or using the Canary version to see if the problem persists, to confirm whether it is caused by a specific version. Additionally, we recommend that you report the issue to the developers using Alt+Shift+I when you encounter problems.
