Hello, Chloris 杜豆豆
Welcome to the Microsoft community.
Thank you for your feedback. I understand that you want to inquire about recovering your data. Recovery is not possible if the local data is not backed up: deleted passwords may be permanently lost if they are not synchronized and there is no restore point. Here are some suggestions:
Method 1: Recover via Microsoft Account Synchronization
Check the synchronization status
Open Edge → Click “...” in the upper right corner → “Settings” → “Profile”.
Make sure you are logged in to your Microsoft account → In the “Sync” option, make sure that the “Password” and “Personal Info” switches are turned on.
If synchronization has been turned off, turn it back on and wait for the data to recover automatically (this may take a few minutes).
To force data synchronization
Click the “Sync Now” button on the “Sync” page → Refresh your browser to test if your passwords are restored.
Method 2: Recover from Edge Password Manager
Check your locally saved passwords
Go to Edge → “...” → “Settings” → “Passwords” → check the “Saved Passwords” list for any deleted entries.
Click on the “eye icon” to enter your Windows account password and display it in clear text.
Recover deleted passwords (if within 30 days)
Edge temporarily saves deleted passwords → Click “Recently Deleted” at the bottom of the “Saved Passwords” page → Select the password you want to recover → Click “Recover”.
Method 3: Recovery via Windows Credential Manager
Open Credential Manager
Press Win + R → type control → Enter → go to “User Accounts” → “Credential Manager” → “Web Credentials”.
Find the target website in the list → Click “Expand” to the right of the entry → Show username and password.
Method 4: Restore Favorites (Web Bookmarks) Manually
Import a local backup file
Edge Favorites are stored by default in the path:
C:\Users\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Edge\User Data\Default\Bookmarks
Copy the file and rename it Bookmarks.bak → Replace the backup file with the current file → Restart Edge.
Import from HTML file
If you have exported your favorites before: Go to Edge → Ctrl + Shift + O to open Bookmarks Manager → Click “...” → “Import Bookmarks” → Select HTML file.
Preventive measures
Export passwords regularly
Go to Edge → “Settings” → “Passwords” → “Export passwords” → Save as encrypted file.
Enable automatic synchronization
Make sure that “Passwords” and “Favorites” synchronization is always enabled in Edge.
Use a third-party password manager
Switch to tools such as 1Password, LastPass, etc. that support cross-device backup and recovery.
