Hi, after my laptop windows updated, the yandex.ru has become my default in my search field. This, even though I have a good anti-viruis program installed. How do I get rid of it, and is my computer now completely compromised?

    Thank you, Dyari!

One follow-up question - since some time now I am not getting anymore any E-Mail notifications when somebody replies to my questions in the Community, this, even though I have the notify me box clicked. I checked my Spam box, and also there there your reply was not to be found.

Do you have any clue why this might be?

    thank you again.

    Manuel

    Hi Dawson,

I'm Dyari. Thanks for reaching out. I will be happy to assist you in this regard.

Your computer is not compromised. Yandex is a Microsoft Edge built-in search engine that you can select by yourself. It may be selected after the update because of the Region.

To get rid of it, please click on the three dots above > Settings > Privacy, search and services > Scroll down to Address bar and Search > Change "Search engine used in the address bar to the search engine you want.

You can also manage search engines and remove it.

If you want to ensure that your computer is safe and secure, you scan it with the free Malwarebytes:

Please do not hesitate to ask if you need further assistance.

    Stay safe.
