The newer version is Meta/Facebook and i too could not find anyway to have it open in google chrome only in Edge so i presume there is no provision for us to have a choice so i just uninstalled the new version and went back to the older version so i can open in Google. I hate when they take away our choice. If i wanted edge to be my browser i would already be using it!

I am having the same issue. I had to reload the Facebook Desktop app from the Microsoft Store and I'm thinking that's what brought the problem about. I see the date of this version is much newer (2023) and the look is a little cleaner as well. Everything else seems to work just fine but I am a Google Chrome user, Chrome is set as my Default on all fronts and now I cannot get this one app to use Chrome when it goes to open a link. I have searched high and low and cannot find anywhere in Facebook that allows me to change the browser setting. The links it goes to open are simple "https" links I have tried so nothing fancy. But ever since I loaded the updated Facebook app, the new version is demanding to use Edge to open all new windows without exception. I have spent a few hours digging in trying to find the key to unlock this mystery - to no avail. Can anyone help?

Hello GaryMaples and welcome to the Microsoft community!

According to your feedback, you want windows 11 to click on a link in Facebook to open it by way of google

You can click on Settings>Apps>Default apps>Move to bottom

Click on select default by link type

Then set Google Chrome as default until you find the Facebook link.

Then check if it solves your problem

I hope you find the above information helpful.

I too had given up the battle of modification and tried to revert back to an older version (March 2023) of the Facebook App for Windows, but discovered that even this one did the same thing! I found the oldest Facebook Desktop App I could find dated 0927.2021 online at UpToDown.com and tried that one, but alas - it also throws me into EDGE as the standard default for all things outside of Facebook.

Where can I get a download of a version of Facebook App for Windows Pre-EDGE that I can install on my PC to go back to how it was? Can anyone help? Gary, how did you revert back to your original version of Facebook? When I Uninstalled mine I no longer had any way to load the old version. How did you get yours back?
