How to delete all saved passwords at once instead of one at a time

It's a good idea, before bringing in a PC for repair, to back up the passwords saved in Edge and then delete them from the PC. How can I delete them all at once, instead of having to delete each, one at a time?

Microsoft Edge | Other | Windows 11

    Hi,

I'm Rodrigo and I'll help you.

After backing up your passwords, to delete all your saved passwords, go to Settings > Privacy, search, and services > Clear browsing data > Choose what to clear > On TIme range, select "All time" > Check only the "Passwords" option > Clear now.

This will clear the passwords on all devices synced to your account, if you just want to delete the passwords from that device, sign out from your account on Edge first.

@Saul JHL There are two different issues being addressed in this thread. I don't think Jaxordinal was specific enough in his original question. However, based on his response to Rodrigo and Yoshitomo, I was able to ascertain that he was inquiring about the passwords saved in Microsoft Wallet....not the passwords saved in the browser. Rodrigo's solution is for deleting the passwords saved by the browser, which is completely separate from this Microsoft Wallet BS.

While Rodrigo's solution may have been the correct one for YOU, Yoshitomo's response to Jaxordinal's post is the answer that he and all of the other posters to this thread, besides yourself, was looking for. Yoshitomo gives step by step instructions on how to delete the passwords from Microsoft Wallet....all except for, THERE IS NO DELETE ALL option!!!!!!! There probably was the option at one time, but Microsoft wants to make it virtually impossible for users to keep their data private.

I have never used Edge as my browser. I used to delete it from my computer (Windows 10) because despite never opening it up, it was always running in the background. If I went into Task Manager and shut it down, at some point, it would start up in the background again. I would go into Serivces and disable it from even starting and it would still start up and run in the background! Eventually, Microsoft took away the ability to simply uninstall it. The work around for me was to go into the registry and get rid of it, but low and behold, MS trumped this move by including a fresh installation of Edge whenever any new Windows updates were installed!

All this being said, I don't know why I was so shocked to discover that Edge has been saving my passwords. I am unclear as to why this was happening, given the only time I ever used Edge is to download Chrome (on a new system or after reformatting a hard drive). Even if I accidentally clicked on import data from other browsers, I don't see how that could happen, given that I didn't have any other browsers installed at the time I utilized Edge!!!

It wouldn't surprise me if somewhere in MS's fine print, that the import option is not restricted to that single instance when you click the button, there is probably a loophole that allows Edge to continuously import and gather data from other browsers that are continuously in use.

I too, would like to delete all of the passwords from Microsoft Wallet and there does not appear to be a way to do that. Microsoft Wallet has stored over 300 of my passwords and the only option that seems to exist is to open each individual password entry and delete it.

This acquisition of my information by Microsoft Wallet could not have been a recent event. I was concerned about the security of my password info with Chrome, so I began using a subscription-based password storage solution. I deleted all of my password data off of Chrome in February of 2023.

It would take me hours to complete the task of deleting my passwords from Microsoft Wallet. It is just one more way that Microsoft attempts to hold users and their data hostage.

The only reason I discovered Microsoft Wallet is because I was actually going to use Edge as my default web browser on my new laptop. I have become very dissatisfied with Chrome and I have read several articles that have highlighted some of Edge's capabilities. However, after discovering that all of my password data has been stored in Microsoft Wallet (something I didn't even know existed), there is no way I will use Edge ever again....not even to download another browser. In the future, I will install my preferred browser from a USB drive.

Firefox is great on a laptop or desktop, but the mobile version is a hot mess. Because I also use both an Android phone and tablet, Firefox is not an option for me.

I immensely dislike Apple products but at this rate, Microsoft's antics are going to force me (albeit reluctantly) over to the dark side. Even with Windows 10 end of life looming in the immediate future, I am seriously considering installing it on my new computer. I am more thankful than ever that I did not update my other laptops to Windows 11 when it was released.

Sorry about getting off topic but I want it to be known to anyone who comes across this post that Microsoft's issues are not only prolific.....no effort is made on their part to fix a majority of the issues. I am talking about real functionality issues...not the issues that are deliberately engineered by Microsoft. There are more threads than one can imagine where a widely experienced issue with a Microsoft product has spanned years. They just don't care.

    Good morning Yoshitomo.

In your step 4, when I click 'Passwords' the top line is:

Passwords + Add [gear icon] Settings …

Next is a white rectangle with a QR code and "Scan the QR code to view and manage passwords on your phone..."

Next is a box to Search for a password.

After that is the 'Password security check' rectangle.

That is followed by a list of all sites and apps for which a password is stored in Edge.

Nowhere on the webpage is 'Saved passwords'. The only three-dot menu is the one after 'Settings' on the top line. Selecting that one displays only two choices: 'Import passwords' and 'Export passwords'.

I have Microsoft Edge Version 124.0.2478.51 (Official build) (64-bit), running on a Windows 11 PC in S mode.
