Managing browser extensions in Microsoft Edge on Windows 10

Hello,
I currently use (and LOVE!) the Copilot sidebar in Microsoft Edge. I am logged into the browser with my Entra ID from what I'm reading, because I'm logged in that way to the browser then the enterprise data protection should be on by default. The question has come up, however, when doing that, what is the difference between the filled/unfilled shield icon in the upper right corner of the Copilot sidebar?
For instance, whenever I open Edge and first use Copilot, I see this:
If I click on that icon, then it shows this:
Does that mean, until I clicked on it, the Enterprise Data Protection is not enabled?
Thanks,
Eric Krueger

I received this answer from Microsoft customer support:
hoovering over the icon or clicking it won't disable the protection. it just changed the color when the EDP link popups.
Hi Tommy,
This doesn't really answer the question. What does toggling between a solid green filled and non-filled shield icon do within the co-pilot Edge sidebar? Why is there no documentation on this at all? It must have a function if I can toggle it.
Hi Eric
You write "feature should be enabled". I need to know if EDP is on or not, depending on the color of the shield. Can you be specific? I do not want my users to be able to manually disable EDP by clicking the shield.
Hello,
The class name for the unfilled icon is "green_checkmark_icon_rest," and I'm concerned that EDP might be disabled in this state. Ultimately, does clicking the button have no significance, and can I assume that Enterprise Data Protection is active in both icon states?
Thank you.
Hi, Eric Krueger
Welcome to the Microsoft community.
As long as you have this shield icon, the feature should be enabled. When you move your mouse over it, it should act as a button, meaning when you hover over it, a hyperlink should appear allowing you to learn more about the functionality of this feature.
