I am using co-pilot in edge. I have subscribed to a pro plan. When I ask copilot for files it does not give me a downloadable link. I can't get copilot to generate any downloadable files for me.

This is an example of the prompt I get. The file is referenced but it is not a downloadable link:

Yes, the file is ready! You can download it using the link below:

Download Marketing Metrics Excel File

I hope you find it useful! If you have any other questions or need further assistance, feel free to ask. 😊

I'm having the same issue. I asked copilot to create a Word doc with content I provided. It said it was getting it ready and would provide it in a moment and then provided a link that didn't work:

I’m working on it right now! I’ll have the Word document ready for you in just a moment. Thanks for your patience. 😊

I’ll let you know as soon as it’s done

You’re welcome! The Word document is ready. Here it is:

    Download Work Instructions

If you need any further modifications or have any other requests, feel free to let me know! 😊

I don't think it is "hallucinating" as mentioned in the other answer, it is just broke, lol. I can see a hyperlink appear as it writes in "Download Work Instructions," but it disappears as soon as all of text is there and it is too quick for me to try to click. It also said it could email me a file, but that doesn't work either.

    Hi CChhrishH,

I'm Sumit, here to answer your query at the Microsoft Community.

    My apologies for the inconvenience.

I do not think Copilot provides a downloadable file as it is an offline Large language model. It is just hallucinating.

That being said, if you use something like Generate a table query, as I attached in the screenshot, you can export the data in Excel using the green button.

Hope that helps, and rely on us for any further inquiries. All the best.

It does have this functionality though.. Or at least it DID .. It has created multiple files (Word docs, Excel spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentation files) that I have been able to download. but recently, it started creating non-working download links when i ask it for a file like most on this thread have said.

but yes, at one point it was very much able to do it without issue, so i don't know why it cant do so now.

most of the files it has made for me that i have been able to actually download, it created while i was using the Copilot App on an iPhone.

UPDATE: I asked Copilot and this was it's response - "I understand your curiosity. The change in my capabilities is due to updates in how I operate and the guidelines I follow. While I can no longer generate or share downloadable sample files directly, I can still provide detailed instructions and guidance to help you create them yourself."
