Why do I keep getting a "cookie not found" message when my cookies are enabled?

So, I keep trying to sign into my college Canvas dashboard and keep getting a message stating "cannot find cookie, please enable cookies in browser." The issue is that the cookies are enabled in the browser, so nothing should be preventing that cookie. Also, I can use Google Chrome and it will log me right in; I was also able to open an InPrivate tab and it logged me right in. Does anybody have any idea what could be the issue here?

    Hello, Jared Bryce

    Welcome to the Microsoft community.

Thank you for your feedback. I understand that you are experiencing the “Cookie cannot be found, please enable browser cookies” issue, here are some troubleshooting solutions:

    1. Third-party cookies are blocked

Chrome/Edge: Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Cookies & Other Site Data to ensure third-party cookies are allowed.

Firefox: Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Enhanced Tracking Protection and select “Standard” or turn protection off.

Safari: Go to Preferences > Privacy and uncheck “Block all cookies”.

    1. Browser extension interference

Temporarily disable all extensions and check the interference items one by one.

Test in no-trace mode (extensions are usually not enabled by default).

    1. Browser Settings Issues

Chrome/Edge: Check if Settings > Privacy & Security > Site Settings > Cookies are allowed for all sites.

Firefox: Remove strict restrictions in Settings > Privacy & Security > Cookies and Site Data.

    1. Canvas server configuration issues

Contact the school's IT support to confirm browser compatibility.

Refer to the Canvas login guide provided by the school (specific settings may need to be adjusted).

Why does Chrome and Privacy Mode work?

Chrome may have a different default cookie policy: compared to the browser you are currently using

Privacy Mode works because: it uses a completely new cookie environment without any historical data conflicts

If it still fails, contact school IT support or try another device/network. I look forward to your feedback.

    Best Regards,
