A PDF file not printing in colour

I noticed yesterday, that I could not print certain PDF files in colour. When opening the file from the website, I can see all the colours. Opening the printing panel, the file is in black and white. In colour setting I have selected "Colour" and in the additional settings I have also selected the option for colour. But nothing works. The preview of the file I want to print stays black and white, as does the actual print.

Changing the printer makes no difference, and trying to print similar file still comes out as black and white. I tried this with other PDF files, and the printing preview opens in colour and also prints in colour. So it seems like I have a problem with spesific files, of which I have previously printed in colour. Also I asked a friend to print the same file on Edge, and there were no problems at all: the printing preview was in colour and the print was also in colour. When opening a PDF file on Edge the upper bar seems different, as in there seems to be another PDF reader that my Edge does not have.

I have made no changes in my Edge or computer, maybe there have been the mandatory updates, but from my part? Everything is the same.

Is there anything I can try to fix this? I know it sounds silly, but these are files I need to have the colour in so printing them black and white isn't an option.

    Hello,

Thank you for sharing your problem on this forum.

I understand that you are facing problem in printing specific file in colour on Microsoft Edge.

Since the issue occurs only with specific PDF files and not others, it is likely related to the file settings rather than your printer or Edge browser. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve the issue:

    1. Check the PDF properties – Please, open the file in PDF reader and verify if the document is set to print in grayscale.
    2. Save the PDF again – If possible, re-save the file using Microsoft Print to PDF and then attempt to print the newly saved version.
    3. Update Microsoft Edge – Make sure your Edge browser is up to date, as updates may include improvements to the built-in PDF reader.
    4. Run the Windows printer troubleshooter – Microsoft provides a built-in troubleshooter that can help diagnose and fix printing issues.

You can find more details and troubleshooting steps on Microsoft's official support page: Troubleshoot print issues in Microsoft Edge - Microsoft Support.

If this resolves your issue, you can mark it as answered to the thread.
