Hi I've found how to solve this issue

the problem is from Bing (the search engine) not Edge (Browser)

    1. Search Something on Bing
    2. Tap the 3-dash button setting on the upper right corner
    3. open safety search
    4. in safety search, turn off open new tab after link click
    5. make sure you save the setting

I'm changing my default browser away from Edge. The new tab for every link feature is just too annoying. And there doesn't appear to be a fix.

So, I have followed these steps and there isn't an option to complete the steps.

I'm trying to add screenshots of the steps but there seems to be an error.

    1. Go to www.bing.com
    2. Click on hamburger menu at top right corner > Safe Search > Results section
    3. undo both the options under results section that goes as below
Open links from search results in a new tab or window

Open links from news results in a new tab or window

    1. Save then close and open the browser, now every link will open in same tab
