Managing media playback issues and settings in Microsoft Edge on Windows 10
This browser is no longer supported.
Upgrade to Microsoft Edge to take advantage of the latest features, security updates, and technical support.
If block the sound from the site permissions in the EDGE browser (via the padlock icon near the address bar → Site settings → Sound: Block), but still hear audio from the page. We are using the audio element in iFrame. The below tag is used in the page.
audio id="msgAlert" autoplay="" src="/WebClient_SSO/Sounds/Information.wav"
But the same sound option is getting mute, when we provide the settings "Control if audio and video play automatically to the sites" to "Block" in the browser settings - edge://settings/content/mediaAutoplay.
What could be the cause of this problem.

Hi Bench,
The setting "Block" for media autoplay at edge://settings/content/mediaAutoplay works well for us.
This option "Right click on tab and mute", will not work for us, since our web site will open in a new window and will not be applied this settings.
So thanks for your suggestions, we can close this thread.

Hi Geetha Ganesan1,
Thank you for Posting in Microsoft Community.
Yes you can set the site to block it but if that option is not available then you can just right click the tab then click on mute site.

Thanks to clarify my query. We will go with the below settings to turn off the audio.
"Control if audio and video play automatically on sites" at edge://settings/content/mediaAutoplay and set it to "Block."
Hi Geetha Ganesan1,
Thank you for Posting in Microsoft Community.
It seems like you are experiencing an issue with audio playback settings in Microsoft Edge. When you block sound from a specific site using the padlock icon, it may not always prevent audio playback, especially if the audio is embedded within an iframe.
To ensure that audio is blocked from playing on the site, you can try the following steps:
By adjusting these settings, you should be able to prevent audio playback on the site, even if it is embedded within an iframe. If the issue persists, you may need to further investigate the site's code to ensure that the audio element is not bypassing the browser's sound blocking settings.
Let me know how it goes,
Best Regards,
