Microsoft Launcher Inconsistent Icons and Widgets

Not sure if this is the correct location to post this as I don't see Microsoft Launcher in the list of MS Product options offered. If not, I would be most grateful for a redirection . . . but here goes anyway:

Have purchased 2 relatively new model Samsung Galaxy Phones (an A26 5G and an A56 5G).

Yesterday I installed MS Launcher from the Google Play store on both within a few minutes of each other (so presumably they are the same version and neither offers an update).

Surprisingly most of the icons and the clock widget are different and my wife and I both prefer those on the A26. To wit:

Clock Widget:

Our family is rather spread out across the globe and we both like to show the specific times of 4 cities/countries as per the A26 . . . but the widget on the A56 only has the option for 2. Further, it has very few "city" options and I was forced to put London instead of Coventry.

Icons:

Many of those on the A56 are embedded in a light blue border which makes them smaller and less clear than those on the A26 (especially as we are getting on in age and the labels are difficult to read).

Neither is a game changer and I suppose that we could always increase the size of the icons and their labels. However, I don't understand why the 2 versions of Microsoft Launcher are different.

Is there any explanation and is there a way to make the icons and widgets of the A56 the same as the A26?

Many thanks in advance.

    Many thanks Carole,

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to solve either the icon or the widget problems. Please see comments in bold red font within your original:

    Hi John,

You've found your tech home. Thank you for posting in the Microsoft community! . . . and thank you most profusely for replying; your help is much appreciated.

I understand your concern about the inconsistencies in Microsoft Launcher on your Samsung Galaxy phones.

The differences you are experiencing in the Microsoft Launcher on your two Samsung Galaxy phones could be due to various factors, such as device compatibility (Although there are very few differences between the 2 devices), software versions (Subsequent to the original posting I found their MS Launcher version numbers, which are indeed the same on both devices: namely 6.241202.1.1162300), or settings (All their settings are identical) . Microsoft Launcher may adapt slightly (the differences, especially in the widget are not slight) based on the device it is installed on (Seems rather odd . . . again especially for the widget options).

To address the differences in the clock widget and icons between the two devices, you can try the following steps:

    • Clock Widget: You mentioned that the clock widget on the A56 only allows for 2 cities. (Unfortunately, true) You can try adding additional cities manually by tapping on the clock widget, selecting the edit option, (There is no edit option) and then adding the desired cities. If the desired cities are not available in the list, you can try searching for them by their time zone (not only are there very few cities in the list but it won't accept typed names of cities that are not in its list and, unfortunately, there is also no time zone option . . . and, although I didn't mention it before, it won't even allow me to show my actual location city, which is San Jose del Cabo in Mexico. So I am showing San Jose in California which luckily is currently in the same time zone . . . but it won't be when Daylight Saving ends in California!!!!!!!!! Therefore, I have until the 2nd of November to solve this).
    • Icons: If you find the icons on the A56 less clear due to the light blue border, you can customize the icon appearance in Microsoft Launcher settings. You can adjust the icon size, label visibility, and other display settings to improve visibility and clarity. ( . . . but, unfortunately, cannot change the appearance of the icons with their light blue borders).
    • Unfortunately, there may not be a direct way to make the icons and widgets identical on both devices if the differences are inherent to the devices (Really struggle to see how or why it would depend on the devices) or software versions (which are identical). However, customizing the settings in Microsoft Launcher can help improve the visual consistency between the two devices (Agreed: as I said in my 1st posting, "we could always increase the size of the icons and their labels" . . . however, the clock widget is another matter).

If you encounter any specific issues or need further assistance with Microsoft Launcher on your Samsung Galaxy phones, feel free to reach out. Many thanks again

If this answer helps. You can also label them accordingly for the benefit of others.

We thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Kind regards . . . and to you
