Possible Malware Extension that I can't remove.

Yesterday my browser Edge stopped working. It can't load websites such as Roblox or Steam. I can't search on any wikis, but it worked on Chrome until today, now Chrome is also doing the same thing. Yet (so far) I can run other apps that use the internet such as Steam and Discord, but not browsers. I think I found out why, it's because of an extension called "NanoAzureius" which I don't remember installing. It says Source: Added by 'your organization' and it won't let me disable it, yet it's probably causing the problems. Is there a way to remove the extension?

In this case, the only option is to factory reset the browsers.

    -Microsoft Edge.

Step 1: Close the Microsoft Edge

1-Press Ctrl+Shift+Esc to open the Task Manager

2-Search for the Edge in the list, right-click on that and click on "End task"

Step 2: Rename the "User Data" folder

1-Right-click on Start then click on Run

2-Type: %localappdata%\Microsoft\Edge and click on Ok

3-Right-click on the "User Data" folder and click on rename

4-Enter a new name for the folder like "User DataOld" or "User Data0" and press enter to save the change

5-Relaunch the Microsoft Edge and check if the problem was fixed

Warning: This procedure will remove all data and settings from Edge, launching Edge after this procedure will be like when you opened Edge for the first time.

    -Google Chrome:

Step 1: Close the Google Chrome

1-Press Ctrl+Shift+Esc to open the Task Manager

2-Search for the "chrome.exe" in the list, right-click on that and click on "End task"

Step 2: Rename the "User Data" folder

1-Right-click on Start then click on Run

2-Type: %localappdata%\Google\Chrome and click on Ok

3-Right-click on the "User Data" folder and click on rename

4-Enter a new name for the folder like "User DataOld" or "User Data0" and press enter to save the change

5-Relaunch Google Chrome and check if the problem was fixed

Warning: This procedure will remove all data and settings from Chrome, launching Chrome after this procedure will be like when you opened Chrome for the first time.

Hi, Vincent. I'm Robinson, and I’m happy to help you today.

The first thing that you need to do is to scan your computer for threats. You can see at these links how to use the Windows Defender offline scan and the Microsoft Safety Scanner to scan your computer for threats.

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/hel...

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/defender-endp...

Then you will need to remove the uninstallation restriction in the registry editor and uninstall the extension.

Step 1: Create a system restore point. In case anything goes wrong you will be able to restore your computer. You can see how to do it at this link.

    https://support.microsoft.com/pt-br/windows/cri...

Step 2: Remove the uninstallation restriction

1-Right-click on Start then click on Run

2-Type: Regedit and click on OK

    3-Go to the key:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Edge

4-Right-click on the sub-key "ExtensionInstallForcelist" and click on "Delete"

5-Reboot your PC and now you should be able to uninstall the extension.

I hope this information helps. If you have any questions or the problem persists, please let me know and I'll be glad to assist you further.

After fighting with this thing for two days, I was able to beat it by using regedit from a command window to delete the contents of all Extensions folders in all relevant registry keys for all browsers. If you use extensions that you want to keep, then find the extension ID listed for the one managing your browser. It will be a long string of letters. Copy that, and use the Edit --> Find feature of regedit to find all related keys to that ID - and just kill those. That should do the job. I preferred to be thorough, as I don't have any extensions that I use.

It wasn't elegant, but it worked. No special software needed. You probably want to make a restore point before you try this, as playing around in th registry is risky if you're not familiar with doing so.

I did exactly what you said and it's STILL there. I even did it for Chrome but when I try to click the extension it still can't be removed
