My default web browser was originally 360 Browser. However, after updating Microsoft Edge to version 135.0.3179.66, Edge forcibly took over as the default browser. Now, all external links open in Edge instead of 360. Please explain why this happened!!!

Microsoft Edge | Open the browser | Windows 11

    Hi Paul,

I know it is annoying that your browser was changed without your consent, but I have provided you the steps to change it back. May I know what issues you had to change it back since I see you pressed No below my post?

    Hi,

I'm Sumit, here to answer your query at the Microsoft Community.

Apologies for any inconvenience you are experiencing. I am happy to help you today.

We can't exactly pinpoint why it changed, but changing the default browser with a single click is very easy. Sometimes, A feature update to Windows might do this but it is very uncommon.

Access Default Apps Settings: Press Windows + I to open the Settings app.

Navigate to Apps → Default Apps.

Search for Your Desired Browser: In the search bar under “Set defaults for applications,” type the name of your preferred browser (e.g., Google Chrome or Firefox).

Click on the browser name in the search results.

Simply Click the Set default button.

I look forward to your response and am eager to collaborate until we find a solution.
