Any progress on this issue? We have been also experiencing this issue -- since about the time frame when this was first posted. It has had a significant impact on the productivity of the staff our organization as we have trained everyone to access their apps via this method.
Thank you!

Hello, Sharif Forrester
Welcome to the Microsoft Community.
When the most recently used apps in Edge Browser no longer show up on the My Apps extension shortcut, you can troubleshoot the problem as follows:
Open Edge Browser, type edge://extensions/ in the address bar and press Enter to enter the extension management page.
Locate the My Apps extension and click the Details button on its right side.
Make sure that the "Show recently used apps" option is enabled. If this option is disabled, enable it and reload the page.
Clear Browser Cache
Select "Settings", scroll to the bottom and click "Advanced Settings".
Under "Privacy and Services" find "Clear Browsing Data".
Select "All time" as the time range and make sure the "Cache images and files" option is checked.
Click the "Clear Data" button to clear your browser cache and try to reload the page.
Disable other extensions and themes
Select "Extensions" and disable all other extensions.
Disable any custom themes and try reloading the page to see if the display of recently used apps is restored.
Updating or reinstalling extensions
If the Update button is available, click it to make sure you're running the latest version.
If the problem persists, try uninstalling and reinstalling the extension, then reload the page.
Reset Edge Browser Settings
Select "Settings", scroll to the bottom and click "Advanced Settings".
Under "Reset and Clear" find "Restore settings to their defaults".
Click the Restore Settings button to reset your Edge browser settings and reload the page.
