Where have my Favourites Folders gone and how do I get them back?

The Edge browser slowed right down last night. I guess it ran an update. This morning, I opened my browser to discover that all my favourites folders and the links therein have vanished.

Where have my Favourites Folders gone and how do I get them back?

Any ideas?

I've followed the advice provided at the following link (Recover lost or deleted favorites in Microsoft Edge), but my missing folders do not appear when I click on the restore icon:

    Update: ISSUE RESOLVED

I followed the advice provided by ¡Firedog, at the following link, but that didn't restore my missing folders: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftedge/forum/all/how-do-i-restore-lost-favorites-after-the-latest/40db0ad2-672d-493f-9860-c2459e143432

What restored my 'lost'/missing folders was going to my Edge Settings and signing out (which disables Sync) then signing back in again (which enables Sync). Also, in Settings, via the Sync option, I quickly and briefly switched the Sync option on for Favourites, before switching it off again.

I have no idea why this problem occurred. However, shortly after getting my favourites folders back my PC instantly switched off without warning. When I started it up again, I discovered >5GB more free space on C Drive. That suggests that Windows must have been running updates prior to the crash (also, free space on C Drive plummeted yesterday, for no obvious reason). However, when I view updates, there have not been any updates installed since the 12th of June 2024.

Post restoration of my folders, I followed the advice provided by

Morning - MSFT at the following link, however, for 'bookmarks' and 'Collection', both columns show a 0 value, (I have no idea why that is, or the significance):https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftedge/forum/all/lost-my-favorite-folders-from-favorite-bar/1948967e-1293-4225-b9a3-7a3c5aaacd13

Now I have all my favourites back, I have created a favourites backup, using the advice at the following link ('How to back up your Microsoft Edge favorites, passwords and more'):

Thank you for your suggestions. However, as I said in my opening post, I have already tried those suggestions.
