My default pdf viewer is Bluebeam, however when i open a downloaded pdf file in Microsoft edge it still opens in edge rather than Bluebeam, I have tried the following, however the Always open pdf file externally option is not available for me.

Method 2: Stop opening PDF file if you are using New Edge Chromium.
Notes: If the Always open PDF files externally is on then if you try to open any online PDF document, it will prompt you to download and later you can use Adobe Reader to view.

This happens every time I get an update. I'm so sick of it. When I search for my files using START and click a pdf it opens with EDGE, but I also can't right click the file to use Open With. I sync my desktop docs and pictures to onedrive. I can't right click any of the files in there, so I'm forced to turn that off.
So I'm literally FORCED to use Edge for my pdfs or search through my files manually for it. Since file exporer search is still hot garbage since windows 95 and virtually unusable, I have no other option but to disable onedrive to make my documents open in the right software.
Seriously Microsoft, what is your problem? I'm seriously considering switching to Linux or Apple, to avoid your garbage OS. I spend 100s of dollar a year for Acrobat pro, I'd like to use it without you constantly shoving edge down my throat (Which is already my default browser btw). If you have a default apps feature, honor the config I set. I have everything set to acrobat for pdf file types. Let me use my own computer in the way I want to use it. I seriously hate you guys so much. For the love of god, either fix file explorer search so it can return results without ever even seeing a scroll wheel. Or stop overriding my default app choices in bizarre places like start search, only with onedrive files. I've wasted an hour of my day searching for an answer to this. . I'm an enterprise customer, we pay you millions. Get it together and stop self serving with user hostile changes.
We hate you so much.
Sincerely,
Every Microsoft Customer.
Better answer: Under "Cookies and Site Permissions" Site permissions, choose "Always Download PDF Files"
So, I get stuck at step 4. I scrolled down to PDF documents, but there was no toggle for Always open PDF files externally.
Specifically, at work, I use Onedrive and open PDF files from Onedrive on Microsoft Edge. When I click to open a PDF file, it opens in the built-in PDF viewer instead of the PDF Xchange editor. Also, from Onedrive, I cannot multi-select files and open to PDF Xchange.
I use Windows 11, PDF Xchange Editor version 10, and Microsoft Onedrive on Microsoft Edge.
In the past, I was used to using File Explorer, but my company's Onedrive is not connected to File Explorer anymore. I used to be able to multiset several pdf files, then right-click and click combine in pdf xchange editor.
I'm looking for a way or workaround to multi-select PDF files from OneDrive on Microsoft Edge and combine and open them in a PDF Xchange editor. Please help!
Agree with the frustration! It took too much time, but I fixed this by going into settings on my computer to " set your default programs" choose Adobe Acrobat, manage, scroll down to the choice for edge and choose Adobe. I hope this helps! It gave me peace, God bless!
The original answer is wrong. There is no such setting in Edge.
