Okay this is quite annoying, I have this pop-up set of icons that keep reappearing in Microsoft Edge "Microsoft Start" page.
Pictured are the default icons I have set up, but, whenever I open Microsoft Edge there is always a popup related to NEWS or WEATHER covering up my last three icons.
Pictured is my default icons in this photo:
Lately, whenever I open edge, I get this icon, for either NEWS or WEATHER:
I have to no end, clicked that icon like pictured below and chose "TURN OFF BREAKING NEWS" and even tried Notification settings and unclicked every single option under "NOTIFICATION SETTINGS"
Every time I open Edge everything is back again to being turned on and that stupid "BREAKING NEWS" is back again.
I deleted every one of those buttons, while some Edge said it deleted it, but it didn't, I noticed my buttons also changed on my other computers as well which are running Windows 11 and one running Windows 10.
I have tirelessly went back into settings and turned all tabs off, even uninstalled News Apps and Weather apps, sure enough, as soon as I open Microsoft Edge, that icon is back again like this: pictured below.
I like having those shortcuts below the "search the web" bar but it is annoying to have three of my shortcuts blocked by BREAKING NEWS.
How do I get rid of this annoying icon without it coming back again over and over again??
I reset Microsoft Edge and that same breaking news icon is still there every time I open Microsoft Edge.

I posted this before, no one answered my question, so I am trying again.

I have exhausted those options also, repeatedly and although that Breaking News disappears for a few browser reopenings, it sure enough reappears after a few new tabs opened.
I have gone into Microsoft Edge settings and turned off every button related to notifications and app suggestions. To no end, this icon reappears and often connects to MSN.com
I have clicked Personalize and other settings and as pictured below, unticked everything in those settings and Breaking News reappears a short time later.
Even after turning all that stuff off, and it does stay off, all it takes is opening a new page in Edge and Breaking News is back again.
I am at wits end and exhausted every option I can think of.
I even have the gear icon settings set to this:
Does anyone know how to turn this BREAKING NEWS notification off permanently and where it is located?
Thanks
I may have solved the problem, but let me tell you, I really had to go crazy with unchecking things in settings.
I will post back if the issue returns after I start up my other Windows PCs.
Bruce.
I have the same issue. I turn off all notifications, and within a few days they turn themselves back on. The culprit appears to be how msn.com interacts with Win 11 and Win 10, regardless of browser (Edge, Chrome, Firefox). We need to turn this off permanently for very small business customers who cannot afford higher end/managed computers at their small retail businesses, (3-4 users, counter sales).
Okay, now it is May 6 and it's back again. As pictured below. But it did go away for last 2 1/2 days.
I will try again to find what the problem is, perhaps sync is the issue since I have other Windows computers in operation.
Test number 1, I went into settings, profiles and Sync.
In Sync I unticked "settings"
I will have to check my other PCs to see if this annoyance shows up there also.
