Only when re-started computer Microsoft had some suggestions and in the end offered Microsoft Office purchase,

Hi alain,
I'm Paul, I'm sorry to hear you're having a problem.
Don't worry, I will help you to solve it.
I will recommend the following solutions.
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/402652...
> Open Microsoft Edge, click the More icon (three dots) in the upper right corner, and select Settings.
> Click Reset settings.
> Click the > icon next to Restore settings to their default values, and then click Reset when prompted.
Open Settings > Apps > Apps & features > select Microsoft Edge and then select Modify > select Repair.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and keep me posted.
I would install Firefox until they can figure this out. It performs much faster than Edge. Edge runs horrible for me on every machine with no extensions. People shouldn't have to clean cache, repair and reinstall the browser all the time just to get it to work properly. [Looking at you Microsoft]
I put together a new build running a Ryzen 5 8600G on a B650 board with 32gb RAM - clean install of Win11 Pro on gen4 NVMe. Should have been perfect like my previous Ryzen 5 5600G build with Win10. Suddenly, I had a problem, where opening a new tab in Edge could take over 2 minutes, and Word documents similarly taking a minute or more to open. This was for the first occurrence of these after a power off restart. Subsequent document opening and new tabs worked normally.
I tried many things suggested by various threads. None worked. After disabling all startup items in System except Microsoft, same result after reboot. When disabling, I noticed that Norton 360 would not disable. I read elsewhere how to disable Norton, and bingo! Problem fixed. Re-enable Norton 360, problem returns.
Solution - interim until Norton get their act together: In Norton 360>settings>Antivirus, I added the following to the Exclusions list (with path for each): Onedrive.exe, msedge.exe, winword.exe
