Where is my FAVORITES folder in Windows 10 and how do I back it up? I want to copy it to a new computer but don't see where it is actually located. I've searched for the location on the internet but my Favorites are not located in any of the answers. This should not be this difficult!

    Hi,

I'm Sumit, here to answer your query at the Microsoft Community.

Apologies for any inconvenience you are experiencing. I am happy to help you today.

In Microsoft Edge, there is no folder for favourites. It is instead in a bookmarks file.

Press Windows+R keys on the keyboard, or Right-click Start on the Taskbar and choose Run.

    Paste:

    %localappdata%\Microsoft\Edge\User Data\Default

    Press Enter.

There is a file named bookmarks, that contains your favorites. You can drag it to the desktop in order to make a backup.

    Alternatively,

To export Microsoft Edge favorites to an HTML file, follow these steps:

    Open Microsoft Edge browser.

Click on the "Settings and more" (three dots) button in the top-right corner.

Select "Favorites" from the dropdown menu.

In the Favorites pane, click on the "More options" (three dots) button.

Choose "Export favorites" from the menu.

Select a location on your computer where you want to save the HTML file.

Enter a name for the file (e.g., "EdgeFavorites").

Click "Save" to export your favorites as an HTML file.

Hope that helps, and rely on us for any further inquiries. All the best.

If you sync your Favorites to your Microsoft account, you won't need to copy them to your new computer, because they'll be waiting for you on your new computer as soon as you sign in. That's one of the great advantages of using a cloud account, like your Microsoft account.

The only reason to export your Favorites is if you want to transfer them to a different type of browser, e.g., from Microsoft Edge to Google Chrome.

If you don't want to sync your Favorites, and instead you want to manually move them to your new computer, the correct procedure is to Export them from the old computer and Import them to the new computer. Copying and pasting won't work.

In the top right corner of Microsoft Edge you'll see three horizontal dots. Click once on the dots and you'll see the Settings menu. Click on Favorites and you'll see ... another three dot menu. Click on the dots and choose Export Favorites.

    Here's an even faster way:

In the top right corner of Microsoft Edge you'll see a star with 3 lines sticking out of it. Click on that. You know the rest.

I do not want to sync them. I want to Export or Copy them which is my question. With that said, you state they can be Exported however you failed to say how! How?
