I'm using a chat interface integrated with Bing on the Microsoft Edge browser. ----I've been using it for some time without any problems, but just recently it's starting to act up as I mentioned in the ask a question Box, I've tried multiple times the refresh option, I've also closed, and reopened the app/ program multiple times, and I've restarted the laptop a number of times with no positive results, any suggestions of what I might try next would be appreciated, -- or could it be a problem within copilot, or on Microsoft's end of the exchange that they're trying to fix, if it is on their end if anyone knows could you give me that info, because if it's not something that I can fix, I don't want to make any unnecessary adjustments that aren't going to make any difference to solve the problem if they're aware of it, and working on it, and if that's the case I guess I'll just have to wait till they fix it. -- best regards, MJH.
---PS, I forgot to add that the tone settings were no longer available at the bottom of the page where you can set to creative or balance or precise that is now missing along with the other problems that I've mentioned earlier.

Hello again, I have been able to complete the majority of the suggestions you made with your first response, -- But there were no changes in the performance,, and within your second response, or reply?-- you suggested that maybe a change in the region settings may help, Well, my PC was set for the United states to start with, - But just for the heck of it, I changed it to Australia,-- and that had no effect on it either, - so I switched back to the United states setting, and it didn't affect any change, when I came back to that setting either ( just in case you were wondering) and I was just about to give up on using copilot anymore because, it was actually getting a little bit worse each day, and it had become more trouble/ frustration than it was worth, and then ... ... One day, "some" things started functioning again, the tone settings reappeared on the bottom of the page, and became available for me, just like they had been in the past, - Unfortunately the open mic, the function of the continued conversation is still not performing as it had been in the past, -- But the voice cutting off halfway through its response, seems to have cleared itself up (so far so good, but I haven't used it enough to be certain yet). --The issues with providing input using the voice function/ option is still a problem (in addition to the hands free problems), When I'm using my voice to input my question/message/query by clicking on the microphone, and inserting my query via the talk to text method, sometimes it goes through without a hitch, and I can ask a question or make a presentation as long as this reply is turning out to be, -But most of the time I'm prohibited from doing that because it appears to be in a hurry to rush off and search for an answer to a question that does not yet exist, because it won't allow me to finish using the microphone because it disables/cuts off the mic, and me, constantly, before I can state my full query/question, the microphone shuts off, and it stops accepting/ listening through the voice input, sometimes I can just say, 4 or five+½ words, and it shuts off the microphone and starts trying to respond to the partial question, For example, -- "how do I change the se" -- and - Boom it cuts off the mic, and runs off, -Then returns with all sorts of information about self-improvement, or ways of making a change to __?, (or something like that,)
But in the big picture, some of the issues, but not all, have been resolved?, (maybe), and made it more usable at least, without any efforts/ actions that I attempted in trying to resolve the problem,(that I'm aware of) but apparently some people, somewhere,(maybe you?, I don't know) made a few adjustments that helped somewhat, hopefully they'll continue to finish solving the problems, but as of now it's usable, So I thank you for your attempts at improving my situation, and I guess that's about all, ( I apologize for the length of this reply, and the guilt trip at the end, but I was just attempting to be thorough ) I just caught myself almost becoming one of those people that doesn't call/come back, and reply/report and they just move on without sharing/ adding to the knowledge base on what they may have learned during the process of trying to resolve issues, and knowing how their information could possibly help others with similar issues therefore making it much easier on the next person, I didn't want to become one of those people, -- and was feeling guilty , -- So I've come back to submit my long rambling,(but hopefully helpful,?) report to you, and give you this little bit (ha-ha, lol, 😄😁😂)of information, And so once again I thank you for your efforts, and time, It is appreciated, -- Sincerely, ----MJH
Hello, Kyo, thank you for responding to my post
Unfortunately I ran into a little difficulty trying to set up a new Microsoft account, so that I could try some of your suggestions, but I failed so I'll have to try again, But in the meantime I came back here to just update my question a little bit I figured I'd add some info about my problem that I failed to mention earlier that may help with your suggestions,( or maybe not ) and that Is, That I have 5 different copilots on two different laptops, three of them are on a windows 11 laptop, ( same platform for two of the three, as the problematic Windows 10 ), and those have the tone settings, and the other two are on the Windows 10 laptop and only one of those is missing the tone settings the other one has them, I don't know if this makes any difference in your suggested solutions, or not but I just felt I should add that little bit of information, thanks again for your help.--- MJH
Hi mark hogan,
Thank you for getting back to us.
Windows 10 may not support Copilot well enough due to its underlying code, but this generally affects Copilot as a system-level application-like sidebar, rather than Copilot as a separate website service in the browser.
The most likely factors that cause Copilot service unavailability are usually network, account, and region.
If hardware is considered, it may be some region-related and time-related configuration on the motherboard.
In our testing of Copilot in the browser, we noticed that the account's regional settings affect the overall availability of Copilot and the availability of some features.
For example, if I switch the region to Malaysia, the mode selection will not be available. If I switch the region to Australia or the United States, the mode selection is available.
Perhaps the laws of some regions determine the availability of Copilot services and some features in specific regions.
Specific network environment or hardware information may affect the entire device in a specific "network region", and thus indirectly affected by the policies of a specific region.

Hi mark hogan,
Welcome to Microsoft Community.
Based on the original description, the device seems to be experiencing issues related to the Copilot.
We tried testing with a personal account in Microsoft Edge but were unable to reproduce the problem.
Failing to change the Copilot mode usually means poor availability of the Copilot service.
This can be related to a number of factors including, but not limited to, network type, network region, browser cache, and Microsoft account status.
In most cases, the Microsoft account itself may be the primary factor in the variability of Copilot service availability.
Due to the limitations of failing to reproduce the issue, further conclusions will rely on your manual testing.
