Does anyone else hate the new Copilot?

It's been on my mind for a while, but I really don't like the new Copilot. Here are the reasons why:

  1. The layout. It is NOT user-friendly and is a chore to navigate. The font isn't too great either and may cause readability issues, and it isn't too easy to access your chat history, especially on mobile. The colours don't really help so much, either.
  2. Lack of properly cited sources. The original Copilot at least gave citations for where its responses came from, which is especially useful for research purposes. However, the new Copilot doesn't do that at all, which means it can easily plagiarize or hallucinate information, which can be both misleading and even dangerous.
  3. The responses. The responses themselves are extremely generic and vague. They lack substance and don't feel nearly as real or at least somewhat authentic as the old Copilot's responses were. I've seen many complaints about this, and those complaints are in every way justified.

For now, based on my observations, these are the reasons why I heavily dislike the new Copilot. For anyone reading this, your voice DOES matter. Please, if you can, send enough feedback to let the developers know that we all collectively feel that this is a major step backwards. Who knows? They might actually restore the old Copilot or provide an option to switch back to the old Copilot.

What is to like? It's extremely annoying and everything I've found that says how to disable it isn't working for me. I may not be following the instructions correctly, but I don't see the options provided. MS should have provided a way to simply right click and get the option of disabling the awful feature. I'm considering just using my GMAIL account. That would be annoying since all my email is in OUTLOOK - for decades (originally HOTMAIL). That's how frustrated I am with this feature that has been imposed on me w/o giving me the option of disabling.

I thought this would help me rephrase my article or paragraph at a time. Instead, it thinks about what the article is all about and goes on a tangent giving its unwanted opinion. What is good of that to anyone? I don't want it to systematically rewrite my article with its own opinion and style. Absurd!

Totally agree, I didn't ask for it and it adds nothing to my experience of Office, it's just a nuisance. Looking into it I have changed my Microsoft 365 subscription to the (cheaper) Personal Classic which doesn't include Copilot. It is the price of the original 365 package I signed up for in October, I got no notification to say I was now on a more expensive package! I can't see any way to remove Copilot from Outlook unfortunately and asking for help from the Community hasn't found me an answer as yet.
