Okay so this exstention installed itself on my Edge and I have no idea how to get rid of it, I tried the deleting policies method. As well as reseting browser to default. While that does technically work an hour later the programs back on it.

it's called Simple New Tab by Appsify.

Version 3.1.0

I don't think that works in this case (It didn't work for me) as the extension wasn't installed by me but instead it said that it was installed by my organisation (I am in no organisation) because of which I couldn't remove it.

Before I start: If you don't understand something I am sorry as English isn't my native language and also if you destroy your pc on accident by using my method I am not to blame as it worked for me but doesn't have to work for you:

I had the exact same issue and I tried a variety of different things. I don't know which one of these steps did it but since Friday (3.5) the extension is gone and hasn't reappeared since then. Here is what I did (if I remember correctly):

    1. In the Registry Editor I deleted in "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Policies/Microsoft" the entire folder "Edge"
    2. On every device that uses Edge and in which I was connected with my account I selected in the synchronization settings that I don't want to synchronize extensions (deselect the option). Next I further selected on every one of these devices that I don't want to synchronize anything at all (so I deactivated synchronization). After I did this I signed out of my account on all of my devices except for the infested one.
    3. Now comes the fun part (again I have no idea if this was even necessary but I did it): I basically went through my entire explorer and looked for any folders named "Edge" or "Microsoft_Edge" and similar (I think most of these (there were multiple for me) should be in the "Programms" or "Programms (x86)" folders). In some of these folders there were some other folders named similar to what an IP-Address looks like (for example something like "123.45.234.65.653"). And in these folders again there should be a folder named "Extensions". This is the one we are looking for because in this folders there (at least in my case) were a couple folders called just some random characters (for example "hjka86fhg378afgbhjagd873") as well as a .JSON file. I deleted all of the folders with the funny names as well as this extra file in all of the the"Extensions" folders I could find. WARNING: This will remove all of your added extensions even the ones that you installed on purpose.
    4. After deleting all of the said files I once again went into the settings of Edge and deleted all of my synchronized data in my cloud. (If you can't find it: For me there was a blue colored link on the very bottom of the page with the synchronization settings if you click on that the page extends and you can click on reset synchronization). And that's pretty much it I guess.

I have to add that somewhere in the process or before I did all this I also reinstalled Edge once (which didn't do anything except for wrecking my nerves) and I also signed out and in again with my (Microsoft)account in Edge but I am pretty sure this also didn't do anything.

If all of this doesn't work for you, you could try to reset your entire computer but that is very time consuming and you HAVE to make sure that you SAVE ALL OF YOUR IMPORTANT FILES SOMEWHERE ELSE (not on the same pc) as they would get lost.

If the extension will ever reappear on my device I will (hopefully) think of updating this post.

(Actually just after writing this I realized that you are apparently using Windows 11 and I am using Windows 10 so it might not work but you can still give it a try.

I just found this extension on my computer myself today (I am using Windows 11) and the above method mentioned in part 3 worked well. I went through the Program Files and Program Files (x86) and found the Microsoft folder and went through each of the following "Edge" named files and checked every folder, some of them have folders labelled extensions as mentioned above and I went through and deleted every single one of those folders. There were maybe 5-6 in total but I am not sure. I just made sure I checked every folder possible in both the Microsoft folders in both Program folders. I am hoping this removes the simple file permanently.

Thank you for your instructions Lukas_Sch.

That's why it's the very last thing you should try if the other stuff I wrote doesn't work and you don't find any other fix.
