Edge won't start Maximized.

Microsoft Edge will no longer open maximized, although it can be maximized after it opens. It also opens to a new tab rather than my configured home page. This behavior just started in the last couple days. I checked "Installed Apps" and I see Edge was updated to version 121.0.2277.128 on Feb. 16. Anyone aware of issues with this update?

    Hi Bill,

I saw your post while searching for a solution for the exact same problem.

If you're still struggling - try disabling the "Startup Boost"

    One Computer > edge://settings/system || [disable StartUpBoost]

GPOdeployment: Computer Configuration > Administrative templates > Microsoft Edge > Performance > Enable Startup Boost || [Disabled]

Then the parameter "--start-maximized" started working again

    Best regards

    Chris

Version 125.0.2535.85 (Official build) (64-bit). Won't start maximized. It always starts in the same position as it was closed last time. Closed as normal - will start as normal. Closed maximized - will start maximized. The settings have absolutely no effect.

    Hello, Bill Oakley1

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

It sounds like the recent update to Microsoft Edge may have altered some of your settings or introduced a bug affecting how the browser opens. Here are two solutions you can take to try and resolve the issue:

1-Open File Location of Microsoft Edge Via Search:

2->Create a Shortcut to Open Edge Maximized

    1. Right-click on your desktop or in any folder where you want to create the shortcut.
    2. Select New > Shortcut.
    3. In the location field, you're going to enter the path to the Edge executable wrapped in quotes, followed by --start-maximized. It should look something like this: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\Edge\Application\msedge.exe" --start-maximized
    4. Make sure you replace the path with the correct path if yours is different.
    5. Click Next, give your shortcut a name (like "Edge Maximized"), and finish the setup. Note: Remember, this shortcut will directly invoke the specified executable with the --start-maximized flag. If Edge updates to a new version and changes its folder structure (which can happen), you might need to update the shortcut's path to the new msedge.exe location.

Finally, regarding "although it can be maximized after it opens. It also opens to a new tab rather than my configured home page", can you tell me what page is opened? Can you share screenshots and whether you have installed any Extensions recently? You can enter this address in the address bar to view | edge://extensions/

If there are any results, please feel free to share them with me, thank you ;)

    Chandy,

Thanks for your suggestions and my apologies taking so long to reply. I've been away and just saw your answer. I gave both suggestions a try, with no success, but while I was following your suggestions I noticed there was an update to Edge available. I figured I might as well update before going any further so I installed it.

I'm now at Release 122.0.2365.52 of Edge and my maximization issue is gone. Edge now opens in a maximized window as it used to. However, it still will not follow my home page settings. I have a home page configured, which has worked fine until recently, but it no longer opens on Edge startup. I've tried changing to the option to open tabs from the previous session, and I've changed to the New Tab option and then back to my home page setting. No matter what I do I get the New Tab page coming up. The Home button is still displayed, and takes me to my Home Page when I click it, but I cannot make Edge open my home page on startup. Any thoughts?

    Bill
