Hi, I’m using an HP Notebook - 14-am044tx and I mostly keep it plugged in for daily use. I’ve been reading that charging a laptop to 100% all the time can shorten the battery’s lifespan, and some newer HP models have a feature in the BIOS called Battery Health Manager or something similar that lets you limit charging to around 80%.
I went into the BIOS by pressing F10, but I couldn’t find any battery-related settings there — nothing like "Maximize my battery health" or a charge limit option. I checked all the tabs (Main, System Configuration, etc.) but didn’t see anything helpful.
I also have HP Support Assistant installed, but it doesn’t show any option to limit charging either — just a basic battery check.
So my questions are:
Is there any way to enable a battery charge limit (like capping it at 80%) on this laptop model?
If not, is there a BIOS update, driver, or HP tool that can add this feature?
And if it’s completely unsupported, is there a safe third-party app that HP recommends or at least doesn’t advise against?
Here are my specs in case it helps:
Model: HP Notebook - 14-am044tx Windows 10 Battery -The original battery had degraded so badly that it would drop from 100% to 0% in just a few seconds, so I’ve already replaced it with a new one and now I want to make sure I take better care of this new battery going forward.
Would really appreciate any advice. Just trying to make the battery last longer while using the laptop mostly plugged in.
Thanks!
